When the rhythm of the heart becomes hectic, Time takes on the strain until it breaks; Then all the unattended stress falls in On the mind like an endless, increasing weight.

The light in the mind becomes dim. Things you could take in your stride before Now become laborsome events of will.

Weariness invades your spirit. Gravity begins falling inside you, Dragging down every bone.

The tide you never valued has gone out. And you are marooned on unsure ground. Something within you has closed down; And you cannot push yourself back to life.

You have been forced to enter empty time. The desire that drove you has relinquished. There is nothing else to do now but rest And patiently learn to receive the self You have forsaken in the race of days.

Socks 21 of 2026 🧶🧦 I am more sick than usual because Charizard was not an easy thing. But wanted some light knitting to keep me occupied and also not too boring - so here's my first Ribbed socks. I used a self striping yarn and added my own twist with a solid colour. I love it #knitsky

You tell me to live each day as if it were my last. This is in the kitchen where before coffee I complain of the day ahead-that obstacle race of minutes and hours, grocery stores and doctors.

But why the last? I ask. Why not live each day as if it were the first-all raw astonishment, Eve rubbing her eyes awake that first morning, the sun coming up like an ingénue in the east?

You grind the coffee with the small roar of a mind trying to clear itself. I set the table, glance out the window where dew has baptized every living surface.

You've stopped being here in the world. You're in a different place, a place where human life has no meaning.

You're not a creature in a body. You exist as the stars exist, participating in their stillness, their immensity.

Then you're in the world again. At night, on a cold hill, taking the telescope apart.

You realize afterward not that the image is false but the relation is false.

You see again how far away each thing is from every other thing.

🧶🧦 Socks 18 of 2026 - Bee-autiful Socks A super fun knit! I love how fuzzy and beautiful the wings of the bees look with the Kid Silk Mohair yarn. This is probably the most challenging sock i knitted so far in terms of yarn management. Pattern is so easy to remember and knit though. #knitsky

Every time you touch your fingertips to your soft pale belly, you realise: you are living. What a dream you could be wishing for in some other, darker, life: to be here, now.

Bathtub full of tea, cotton bedspread speckled with a hundred blue flowers, a thrift store ceramic planter with a sunlit basil plant forming itself right before your eyes.

You have come so far to love your little life so much that you would not trade a single scar. Love it so much, that the empty side of the bed is already full.

🧶 I got some of my amigurumi mojo back with this one. It took me a while to figure out the pattern - not the patten's fault. I misread things when I am too exhausted. I love how amigurumi look with small size hook, but embroidering them is not fun at all. I broke a metal needle. 😭 #bsnm #crochetsky

Oh, to love what is lovely, and will not last!

What a task to ask of anything, or anyone, yet it is ours, and not by the century or the year, but by the hours. One fall day I heard above me, and above the sting of the wind, a sound I did not know, and my look shot upward; it was a flock of snow geese, winging it faster than the ones we usually see, and, being the color of snow, catching the sun so they were, in part at least, golden. I held my breath as we do sometimes to stop time when something wonderful has touched us as with a match, which is lit, and bright, but does not hurt in the common way, but delightfully, as if delight were the most serious thing you ever felt. The geese flew on, I have never seen them again. What matters is that, when I saw them, I saw them as through the veil, secretly, joyfully, clearly.

Maybe I will, someday, somewhere.

Maybe I won't.

It doesn't matter.

Literally thin-skinned, I suppose, my face catches the wind off the snow-line and flushes with a flush that will never wholly settle. Well: that was a metropolitan vanity, wanting to look young for ever, to pass.

When they say Don't I know you? say no.

When they invite you to the party remember what parties are like before answering.

Someone is telling you in a loud voice they once wrote a poem.

Greasy sausage balls on a paper plate. Then reply.

If they say We should get together say why?

It's not that you don't love them anymore. You're trying to remember something too important to forget. Tell them you have a new project. It will never be finished.

The Obligation to Be Happy

It is more onerous than the rites of beauty or housework, harder than love. But you expect it of me casually, the way you expect the sun to come up, not in spite of rain or clouds but because of them.

And so I smile, as if my own fidelity to sadness were a hidden vice-that downward tug on my mouth, my old suspicion that health and love are brief irrelevancies, no more than laughter in the warm dark strangled at dawn.

Happiness. I try to hoist it on my narrow shoulders again-a knapsack heavy with gold coins. I stumble around the house, bump into things. Only Midas himself would understand.

I like it when people brake for squirrels.

KNOW YOURSELF

Know yourself they say and don't be led astray but how can I know who I am when I'm different every day?

Some days I am the smart one with the answers people need and some days I'm the strong one standing up to take the lead.

On other days I'm sure that if the wind blew me too hard I would shatter like a glass into a million tiny shards.

And on those days I cower and I hide out from the world waiting on my inner child to blossom and unfurl.

And each day I'm surprised by the newness that I see the things I'm finding out the complexity of me.

I got a cute voice note from my almost 6 years old baby nephew about how much he love the handknitted beanie I gifted him. I actually made amigurumi dolls of their favourite footballers as gifts. 🧶 #knitsky
