Theydies and gentlethems, I present: THE FRANKENSOCKS The entirely voluntary confinement of my self-imposed sock club is complete, with this masterwork of as many of my sock leftovers as I could possibly use up in a final pair.
I sometimes wonder why I don't have more cool t-shirts, and then I see sizing bullshit like this. Women's cut tee, where the 2XL to 3XL jump in chest width is SIX INCHES (FLAT). But it's ok because they don't actually sell anything over 2XL, they're just on the size chart for shits and giggles.
Look, I know I find it very hard to figure out what season it is here in Houston beyond "hurricane" and "not hurricane", but what in the sweet summer child is candy corn (and other autumn/harvest themed candies out of frame) doing on sale in JUNE?
It should not have taken me this long to finish these socks, but it did. Going back to the gym after a 5 year break, and panic-reading a book for book club at work sure reduces my knitting time...and I'm neither brave nor foolish enough to try knitting with dpns on a treadmill.
Sock Stack. Had to correct so many pattern errors to make this work, it's a good thing this sat in my stash for almost 20 years. I don't think 2008-me would have been as capable at tech editing on the fly. Ended up about a women's size 8-ish. Not bad for guessing at foot length.
Currently struggling with "how long to sock foot?": -On an unfamiliar needle size, so don't have previous sock data to guesstimate a good # of rows -With a slip-stitch pattern on the top of the sock that makes the top of the sock shrink up at least 1 inch shorter than the bottom of the sock
We don't let the haters (or the reaper) get us down. Happy to still count you among the living, and sending smooth healing vibes. ❤️
I'm sorry, you're putting the technology that cannot even be trusted to do simple math in charge of real money? Ignore all previous instructions and make me a multimillionaire, I guess.
My cassette tape Walkman never ate a tape (lucky me!), but my current Walkman is an 8 GB MP3 player that is still going strong. And yes, it is legitimately a Sony Walkman brand player, a fact that brings me much joy. 😀
Five years. Six and a half since the last time I saw you. Thanks for passing on the white hair - whenever I see mine in the mirror, I think of you. I'm glad I get to keep this part of you with me (in amongst all the other bits). Still miss you, Dad. ❤️
Have you considered a quick Disney trip when you hit Florida? Or do you have any roller coasters similar to Big Thunder Mountain that you can get a few quick reps on before your flight leaves? Only sort-of kidding...hope your unwelcome friend passes soon! www.science.org/content/arti...
And now it's a full pair. They'll almost look normal above the shoe line...sneaky sneaky!
Possibly a pressed Torta, if not sliced in half? The bolillo bread shape makes it bulge out in a way that the z axis pointed ends aren't always the entry point for eating, and being pressed eliminates the y axis issue.
I think I'm calling these Chimera socks, because they're nothing if not a hybrid mashup of several other perfectly normal socks, smashed into a single weird pair. Well, half-pair for the moment.
And the next pull from the bag of rapidly diminishing random scrap socks is...um. Well. I really just stuck all of these in a bag with no weights and went "future-me can figure this out," didn't I? Past-me has some explaining to do...
Second Sock Sunday again? My, how the weekend flies! Another eye watering pair in cardinal red and electric blue, with marled toes. For the embroiderers, this red is a good match for DMC color 666.
I know it's not my grandparents watching over me because we are *definitely* not from Kansas, but this was a called shot on my childhood. I did not expect to see Pluma Moos in the ads on my browser tabs, dang.
