Yes, care organisations across the world pull these stunts. I was offered "re-ablement" and said, "That's inappropriate because I am getting worse, not better." Response: "Oh, no problem, you can progress from re-ablement to permanent care!" Of course, permanent care was never offered.

In February 2023, Mari was approved for home care services from her province, but assessors revoked her services within a month. Service workers presented a home visit as a routine check-in and asked Mari if she needed additional help. Mari declined, believing they referred to support beyond her existing services — but her response was used to cancel her care entirely. Mari has repeatedly appealed the decision without success.

Let me guess: patients will still be blamed and yelled at when they follow this advice and turn up at the wrong place.

The NHS will begin using AI on its app to direct patients to the appropriate services, it has been announced.

The tool will be used to triage patients and to ascertain if they should be allocated a GP appointment. Some may be advised to attend a pharmacy or their local A&E department instead, depending on the severity of their condition.

One-star recipe review featuring a giant wall of text saying, "11/4 cups of prosecco in the cake batter is almost surely a typo. Two cups in, I saw that my cake batter had become the consistency of a thin bisque, and I got skeptical. Much to my chagrin, the sauce calls for 2 cups. There are only about 13/4 cups in 750ml in the first place, so my best guess is that the recipe only called for 5/4 of prosecco, or 1-1/4 cups. With 3/4 cups extra, my cake ended up a rubber pancake with zero internal crumb. That said, I don't think I'll be making this recipe again, as in retrospect, I think there is some fundamental chemistry working against this cake. The acidity of the sparkling wine reacts with the alkaline nature of baking soda, producing essentially salt water and whichever ingredient had a surplus. Given how little baking soda there is, I'd guess the wine more or less obliterates all leavening agents, leaving only whatever internal carbonation is left after mixing. In other words, the chemical affinity of prosecco makes it strictly worse as a leavener (in the presence of baking soda) than none at all.The syrup, of course, was delicious, but how can you go wrong with sugar, booze, and fruit?"

10 years ago, Jo Cox was murdered by a far-right extremist. I will never forget the moment I received the news that she had been killed. She was doing her job as a constituency MP, serving the community she loved. The feeling of profound shock and grief will stay with me forever.

Jo was an extraordinarily warm and kind person who believed in a more inclusive society for all. She cared deeply about social justice, human rights and international solidarity. Even in a short amount of time in Parliament, she achieved so much and inspired so many.

The far-right hatred that took Jo’s life has not gone away. It has grown. We have a duty to confront it wherever it appears, and build that kinder world that Jo believed in - a world where everyone, no matter their faith or background, can live in freedom, joy and peace.
