@chicagobars
Working for Chicago’s bars, breweries, restaurants, and music venues morning, noon, and night. Also Chicago’s leading source of state and local government procedure jokes.
Undisclosed location. Drinking Chicago made Eris Cider after errands while somebody else gets a work out in. I’m a supportive helper. I have no idea where all the waters in my recent photos keep appearing from. Never touch the stuff!
Chicago full moon rise and @NavyPier fireworks over Lake Michigan earlier tonight.
The Savannah Bananas have an elite understanding of the Chicago market. Bananas: 1 Ketchup on hot dogs: 0
Undisclosed location. Watching Cubs baseball on a bar patio TV. Drinking a @HalfAcreBeer Daisy Cutter and enjoying the scenery from far above the banana madding crowd.
This City Hall hearing on new revenue (tax and debt sales) performance in the 2026 Chicago budget (which the Mayor hated) has the Mayor’s Finance team testifying and this is like watching a Vegan explain how darn hard it is to cook a T-bone steak.
Undisclosed Lincoln Park location with exceptional air conditioning. Drinking a refreshing Eris Cider. And they even got $4 Old Style tallboys (tax included)!?!? That’s heat wave value!
Back in Chicago. Home. I feel like Andy Dufresne popping up in that thunderstorm after a long nighttime crawl thru a narrow sewer pipe.
Undisclosed location. Drinking one @KonaBigWave before heading home after evening spent dodging downpours. 🫧🫧🍻
Good Lord @chicagocta.bsky.social - have some pride in your appearance/facilities for once? The smell is somehow worse than your work area there looks. Belmont red line station bio-hazard.
I commend Parrots Bar on Wellington & Halsted (behind Castle @BinnysBev) to you every day and especially on Thursday afternoons for the service and for the excellent $10 burger special. And the other specials are pretty mint too #FreePlug
Confirmed. It was indeed a bar. All the classic Chicago tavern indicators were present: - Beer - Stools - Cooler - Tamale Guy
You know what I recommend after a long day in and around the trench warfare at the Chicago City Council meeting? A few large tasty cocktails. 🍹🥃🥂
Next Thursday! I'll try to answer the 20 Chicago bar questions I get the most in twenty minutes AND take your opening a bar in Chicago questions too at the iconic @carolspub in Uptown. $10 RSVP (plus fees) includes welcome beverage and souvenir koozie. www.eventbrite.com/e/chicagobar...
PSA: You can win tickets to a FUTURE Cubs game from @budweiserusa here today between 12:30 - 1pm Pretty sure they are bleacher tickets but no promises on that.
Comrade Roger!” “Comrade Santino! Well met! Buongiorno!” “And buongiorno to you Comrade Roger! How goes our revolution?” “The revolution is not an apple that falls when it is ripe. You have to make it fall. One bus shelter at a time!” “Long live our revolution! Onward Comrade!”
Old Town field report: It has been a robust day for outdoor day drinking with friends in Chicago.
Still…sorta’…kinda’…green for St Patrick’s Day? Pretty day in a pretty city though!
If you grew up going to museums or zoos in Chicagoland you can still smell this tweet. Mold-A-Rama 🐥 & 🏙️at @msichicago.bsky.social
Good working lunch yesterday at Side Street Saloon in western Lakeview. The sneaky good kitchen is still sneaky good. #FreePlug
Remember to support Chicago’s legacy small businesses this Valentine’s Day weekend!
A tavern of distinction you should know (I would hope) for Chicago #TavernWeek2026 - River Shannon on Kinzie in the shadow of the Merchandise Mart. Lunch specials daily and excellent bartenders always. Also a rare (for downtown) pool table in back.
Undisclosed location. Drinking a Goose Island beer. And I have confirmed it will be one of the tiny handful of Chicago bars NOT showing the Bears game Sunday night (no TVs).
Your bar, restaurant, grocery store can download their own here: ilcc.illinois.gov/content/dam/...
As is tradition I will now reveal the official Stare of Illinois required Proof of Age sign for 2026 from a distinguished downtown Chicago undisclosed location. Brace yourselves people.
I know Chicago people can have strong feelings about painted over brick & stone buildings but I really like what they did with the Cardozo’s Pub building in the Loop…
Thanks to a moderate stomach flu I spent the past 72 hours drinking nothing harder than (liters of) Sprite Zero. This concludes my Dry January 2026. Onward.
