Sutcliffe delivered on literally none of this during his first term as mayor, nobody should trust anything he campaigns on.
Reminds me I *almost* started a campaign to get these made for realsies, but my last custom plush project resulted in several hundreds of stuffed robots in my garage that I still haven’t fully gotten rid of yet
“Your kids will totally understand if you skip school pickup and grab a pint downtown with the people from your day full of Teams calls”
Confirmed the flooding at Centrepointe library and Carlingwood impacted the children’s collections. Only seems fair we move the children’s collections to higher ground and put the boomers collections in the basement for the next flood.
The Merivale Road North Functional Design study documents are up. Due to Ford’s meddling, no bike lanes but option 2 leaves room for their future addition. You know what to do #ottbike engage.ottawa.ca/merivale-roa...
One of the biggest misconceptions people have about backup/supplemental heat is thinking they need a wholly secondary heating system. When we do full cold climate installs in Ottawa, the backup heat is literally this heat kit that is the size of a couple pizza boxes installed inside the air handler
Due to sewer and water replacement on our street, all our storm drains are covered with geotextile fabric which evidently does not allow water to drain as quickly as it usually does.
👀 I know it’s nowhere near the same scale, but similarly, whenever I walk by parliament hill, the amount of incomplete combustion from the centennial flame is really really bad.
If you’re wondering why the City of Ottawa decided to focus on the tinniest slice of owned emissions
Anybody know what the deal is with the Fisher Park delay construction is? Been like this for a while. The slide is also now boarded up.
Schools that are between two streets can already do this (e.g Elmdale), but schools that are only accessible from one street (e.g. W.E. Gowling) could be altered to be one-way for bus drop off and a separated mobility lane for students to be able to bike to/from school safely.
If you haven’t put this on your calendar yet, plan to attend the family friendly Green Fair Ottawa on June 13th at the Coventry Rd Conference Centre (baseball stadium adjacent). We’ll be demo’ing thermal batteries and talking heatpumps and maybe balcony solar ☀️ cafesottawa.ca/green-fair-o...
Something something sightlines But I’m sure there’s some amount of we’d just have to dig them up when the roots interfere with utilities and someone gets hit because a driver claims they couldn’t see the cyclist due to the trees.
Another diesel generator use case that the city of Ottawa should be working to help move small businesses away from. Gathering hundreds of kids to bounce adjacent to 4 stinky emission generators when these could be totally silent non-emitting batteries. @forourkidsog.bsky.social
@pwhlfanapp.bsky.social intermission is so good. We need multiplayer Zamboni races next.
This is practically the NCC’s Scenic Driveway through the Central Experimental Farm
Bayview station has a whole giant parking lot, but nobody can carry a ladder 10ft or bring a dolly. Tow those vehicles straight into the river.
The Icon ones just feel so out of scale with the building itself. It should have some tall things there; not low growing flowers.
Moto-normativity is having to opt out of needing a school bus vs. opting in to need a bus. Those opting out (and saving the board money on buses) have to spend their time filling out a form and looking up numbers while everyone that needs a school bus seat doesn't have to do anything.
