Some folks call me the "ham-ster"
And on the final full day of my vacation, I’ve finally made it to my favorite local coffee shop (Demolition Coffee in Petersburg, VA) to read some of the many books I brought with me three days ago, accompanied by a cold brew.
A footnote from Will Sommer’s latest column. This is the cleverest thing Laura Loomer has ever said (although there is no competition; she’s never made another clever comment). For those who can access it: www.thebulwark.com/p/laura-loom...
Looked ahead at my closest IMAX theater (the Airbus Theater at Udvar Hazy Air and Space Museum) showtimes for THE ODYSSEY. They’re up only through August 1, and shows that day are, of course, sold out. Just for kicks I clicked on a July 31 show, and was stunned to see 2 seats available!
#letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched A slow week, and I was inattentive/distracted during the Lapid. Will watch and re-rate at some point, but for now...
Open night ahead. Why not watch the best movie of last year again? Library Blu-ray. Let’s go!
#letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched Only two new watches this week, although I rewatched my UNFORGIVEN 4K, this time with the audio commentary turned on.
Mostly rewatches, although I filled in one big blind spot. #letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched
I bought three 4Ks for $30 from Gruv Entertainment a while back. I watched one last week, another last night. Tonight’s viewing is the only one left. Forgot how harsh the opening scene is.

This thread brought to you by today’s Blu-ray purchase. (Thanks Vinegar Syndrome Pittsburgh.) Wanted to confirm that I thought highly of it 6 years ago, and I did.
Looking for my Top Films of 2020 list online - wasn’t sure I ever posted it - I got these interesting Google search results. You know AI is fake because it calls me an “esteemed critic.” :) Not sure what the Riz Ahmed connection is.
A surprise Double Points weekend for Barnes & Noble members, combined with the 50% Off Criterion sale, means this happened. And I don’t think I’m finished.
#letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched A second look at the film made me glad I bought the 4K of THE BIKERIDERS, although it remains a quite strange film. Love the three main performances.
I subscribe to the FANGORIA newsletter because I like editor Phil Nobile’s commentary pieces in each email. Plus, he sometimes reminds me of films I watched and kind of loved when I subscribed to the print magazine and checked out tapes at the local Erol’s Video. I was a big Stan Winston fan.
4K catchup. Gotta knock a few of these out before I take advantage of the Barnes & Noble Criterion sale.
I don’t think I realized when I reserved a ticket how close I’d be.
At ROSE OF NEVADA at AFI Silver, with director Mark Jenkin and Q&A moderator Roxana Hadadi.
Took off work an hour early so I could come to Cinema Arts and watch MULHOLLAND DRIVE on the big screen - a film I have struck out on three times previous. And yet I persist.
For more than three decades I’ve chosen not to see this film. That ends tonight. I’ll regret this, but I wanted to support AFI Silver’s Bleak Week. Let’s play a game: How many minutes into the film before Christian walks out? #filmsky
#letterboxdfriday #lastfourwatched plus one. Good week. Think I'll go see DISCLOSURE DAY a second time later today.
