I heard they're going to reopen the Cinerama Dome.

Interview with Bong Joon-ho (unsure of interviewer, but they're initialized as NL). It reads:

BJH: Yes. [laughs]

NL: What kind of comics did you draw?

BJH: There was a time when I seriously considered becoming a cartoonist. In fact, I drew cartoons all through college. Our university had a newspaper, The Yonsei Chunchu, and I actually got paid to do cartoons for it. As kids we had easy access to Japanese manga, and manga like Doraemon were popular in Korea. I tried to draw pieces that imitated those Japanese comics. When I became a filmmaker, I drew my own storyboards, which reminded me of those days. After all, comics are about arranging shots and how the frames go together. With storyboarding, I feel like I'm fulfilling my childhood dream of being a cartoonist; it's kind of a pleasant delusion.

NL: Watching movies and drawing comics served as training for filmmaking?

BJH: I never intended it that way, but I drew up loving comics. My dad worked in graphic and industrial design, so our house was always full of art books and photo books. He also watched an incredible amount of TV. He was a huge TV drama addict, so the TV was always on, and he never made rules about how much we could watch.

After our last collab with 2018's "The Whey of All Flesh," Josh & I are finally working on a new comic. ATTRITION is a space horror about seven prisoners stranded aboard a decommissioned, experimental spaceship. We submitted it for an anthology, but even if we don't get in we're still doing it.

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art visualization, but it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job it seems like read department says that AI can be useful in any field except the one that they know best.

It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence lies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.
