Important note: As someone who is Asian and has dealt with colorism in my own life, I want to be clear that my painting is just a concept, which is why she’s a bit paler/more ghostly. The version we ended up with in the final film is most accurate to her beautiful, true dark skin tone!
I painted the color key concept for *THAT* Sonam shot in Avatar Aang. It came out so beautifully in the finished film!

I made these paintings of Tagah and Sonam for the flashback sequences in the Avatar Aang movie, which I was so lucky to help guide the style direction of.
