Currently watching the History Channel’s “WWII with Tom Hanks”. A documentary about WWII. It’s not perfect, they did leave some stuff out probably for time, but I’ve learned a lot that I didn’t know. For example, the Americans faced hell during the Italian campaign. #WWII #antifascism #history

Currently, despite only being 9PM, many of the NW suburbs of NYC are already dropping into the 60s°F and 50s°F. @nws.noaa.gov is forecasting low to dip into the f-f-FOURTIES!!! A forecast low of 46°F tonight in Monticello and a refreshing 64°F in Central Park. It’s gonna be a cool night N&W of NYC.

In fact, NYC (GHCND:USW00094728) after setting a record high on July 2nd (100°F, NYC’s first triple digit high since July 18th, 2012), may tie a record cool high for today of 71°F. The forecast by NOAA is 72°F - 13°F below normal for the date. www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?...

Watch Denver hit like 105°F or something else ridiculous. Been so insane to see how extremely hot this Summer has been so far for the northern hemisphere. July 2nd set a daily record high for the globe according to @copernicusecmwf.bsky.social.

In terms of total precip, no, rainfall is actually running at about 90% of normal, NYC has just had more rainy days then unusual according to @noaa.gov, but the data themselves didn’t dump a ton of rain overall. Apart from a costal storm bringing good rainfall on Fri-Sat and some areas…
Much of the Northeast is currently under drought conditions according to the Drought monitor (collaboration between the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the USDA, NOAA (via the NIDIS and NCEI), and NASA. Was a dry April for the urban corridor of the N.E., but May so far has been near normal.
