Our thoughts are with Lloyd’s family, friends and former colleagues. /5
His accolades precede him: Lloyd was the first journalist inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame, and in 1998, became an Officer of the Order of Canada. In 2016, we were honoured to present Lloyd with the CJF Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his distinguished career in broadcast journalism. /4
From the Apollo 11 moon landing, to Terry Fox’s cross-Canada run, Lloyd has guided Canadians through remarkable news stories, big and small. /3
Lloyd joined CTV in 1976 and held the title of chief anchor and senior editor from 1984 to 2011. With a 35-year stint as host of the country’s most-watched newscast, CTV National News with Lloyd Robertson, he built a loyal, trusting audience from coast to coast, particularly later at W5. /2
Today, we are remembering Canadian news giant, Lloyd Robertson. /1
When it comes to investigative reporting, Canadian journalist @susannecraignyt.bsky.social is a leader in the field. From her 2019 exposé on Donald Trump’s finances to the best-selling book that followed, “Lucky Loser,” The New York Times investigative reporter’s body of work speaks for itself. /1
“As a first-time journalist/news creator, having access to such a roster of guest speakers and trainers has been immensely helpful,” says 2025 participant/The Level's Neil Malik. “After joining the program, we launched our first paid ad campaign to expand our reach and build brand awareness faster.”
In the latest Journalism Matters episode, The Globe and Mail's Jesse Winter & Nancy Macdonald; The Narwhal's Michelle Cyca; & The Solutions Journalism Network's Colleen Hagerty joined CBC's Laura Lynch in exploring how to better report on wildfires in an increasingly turbulent climate.
