Was able to join small but mighty visibility brigade this morning and in so doing received a lot of sup0 portive kinks and reconnected with a college acquaintance like. Nothing feels adequate right now, but it's a good reminder to show up where you can when you can. Abolish murderous ICE.
July 4 is always fraught, especially this year. In support of joyful resistance and resilience I share this pic of our neighbor Chris Parente, the Broadview 6 attorney who doggedly broke open the DOJ's misconduct, on a float with his son's baseball team at our local parade. Integrity still matters.
Cleaning house on this rainy day and thought the people of Bluesky might be curious about the latest iterations of the Clue suspects. A quick Google indicates that the usual suspects threw a predicably bigoted tantrum about this revamp.
LOL. Your earlier enthisiasm inspired me tonight as well. So good. Reminds me of Moose Lodge dinners with my grandpa in the 1980s. All I need is a Shirley Temple.
Heading home from a conference downtown. My cab is running parallel to this gentleman who is blasting Steely Dan from his speakers while cruising down 290.
As a young person in Chicago I was fortunate to be exposed to both Girl Talk and the Hood Internet. I was also blessed to attend the Sam Irby/THI fever dream of a charity fundraiser 2 yrs ago marking the 20th anniversary of the Dave Matthews Band Poopgate fiasco.
I generally appreciate the @chicago.suntimes.com but putting the president's brazen, nearly $2B corruption scheme on page 14 (and yet another story about the Bears stadium drama on page 1) is a choice.
Friendly reminder to join us May 28 for Sounds Like Chicago! Not only will you hear Jim Derogatis, Rebecca Makkai, Sherman "Dilla" Thomas and Natalie Moore in conversation, you will support Chicago's independent community radio station @chirpradio.org !
This is real and the only thing it is"disrupting" is my mental health. Happy 420!
When the Economist engages in less sanewashing than @nytimes.com (and @npr.org for that matter)
So very many people who are fed up and want something better for all of us. #nokings #nokingsday #nokingschicago
Of course the bucket boys were on point. #nokings #nokingsday #nokingschicago
Who said Donald Trump is not a unifying president? He got these two people to stand next to each other and chant about how much he sucks #nokings #nokingsday #nokingschicago
I am so sorry but my brain would not allow me not to do this, particularly when the AUSA unsurprisingly appears to be a total stooge
There is a lot going on and so much of it sucks but tonight reminded me why I love Chicago. Delightful fundraiser for Serve and Return at The Hideout with @markbazer.bsky.social interviewing the inspirational and impeccably named NU women's tennis coach Claire Pollard + another guy who likes tennis
Thoughtful respites from scrolling and overwhelm. @bigtakeover.com @dansinker.com #danzysenna
Bad pic bc my phone didn't have much juice, but encouraging turnout at last-minute march/visibility action in S OP today. Lots of neighbors, incl some newbies. There is a broad, increasingly less-silent majority fed up and motivated to check this murderous, illegitimate regime. #abolishICE
Hi, all. On this frigid MLK Day, I invite you to join me in submitting public comments against the admin's dangerous proposed rules that would substantially limit health care for trans people, and in particular, trans youth. Federal Register links and helpful resources in the comments.
Sunrise over Oak Brook. A grounding start to what will surely be another tumultuous week.
Snuck out between conf calls to join neighbors holding signs above I-290. Some came for an hour, some for 10 min. Many affirming honks from motorists. As others have eloquently put it, what is the "one more thing" you can do today? It all counts. Let's make this the beginning of the end.
