While anti-genocide campaigners were prosecuted in their 1000s in Britain, this is on the streets of Belfast right now. When Benn & Starmer refused to call a COBRA meeting following the paramilitary-backed ethnic cleansing of the Belfast pogroms in June - it was a green light to loyalist terror.

17 Unionisation and decriminalisation of sex work
Conference notes that:
A significant number of sex workers undertaking performance work are LGBT+ workers,
including trans and non-binary performers, reflecting both the diversity of the creative
industries and the economic marginalisation faced by LGBT+ people.
Due to the criminalisation of sex work and the poor terms and conditions in other
connected work, LGBT+ sex workers are particularly vulnerable to exploitation, unsafe
working environments, harassment and non-payment. Trans and migrant LGBT+ workers
face heightened risks of discrimination, profiling and barriers to reporting abuse.
Conference believes that:
Sexualised labour does not remove or diminish an employer’s duty of care.
LGBT+ workers in all sectors have the right to work safely, free from discrimination, with
access to union protection and clear contractual standards.
Conference calls on the TUC LGBT+ Committee to:
i. support affiliated unions to organise with and recruit LGBT+ sex workers
ii. promote union contracts and minimum health and safety standards in relevant
spaces
iii. campaign for the full decriminalisation of sex work as a matter of LGBT+
workplace safety and trade union equality.

TUC LGBT+ Conference 2026 saw Emergency Motion 1 on the EHRC code of practice passed and chosen by conference to be the motion to go to TUC Congress 2026. Importantly it calls for law change. As a @ucu.org.uk delegate powerfully said: 'No more protecting the dolls. Empower us'. [1/n]

Oppose the EHRC Code of Practice (Services, Public Functions and Associations)
This Conference notes the issuing of new guidance on the implications of the Supreme Court Judgement of April 2025 on Thursday 21st May 2026.  
Conference unequivocally condemns the EHRC’s proposed Code of Practice as a direct attack on LGBT+ equality. 
Conference believes: 
i) That trans, non-binary and gender diverse people are entitled to be treated with equal dignity at work and in wider society.  
ii) The new guidance is discriminatory and unworkable and effectively excludes trans people from swathes of public life including working life. 
iii) The law must be changed 
iv) The Code: 
a. seeks to legitimise exclusion,  
b. erodes long‑standing protections under the Equality Act 2010 and Gender Recognition Act 2004 
c. Represents a regressive and dangerous interpretation of the law 
d. Places trans, non-binary and gender no-conforming people at heightened risk of discrimination, humiliation, and denial of services. 
 Conference resolves to: 
1) call on the TUC to campaign to introduce a process of gender self-declaration in the UK. 
2) campaign so trans people have equal civil rights and justice in the workplace. 
3) Call on all affiliates to challenge exclusionary guidance. 
4) Coordinate lobbying including MP engagement and influencing the General Council   
5) working with LGBT+ organisations to challenge the Code. 
 Trans rights are human rights: conference calls on all affiliates to publicly, actively defend this without compromise.

So after the last pogrom here, I had to double check that the N. Ireland Department of Justice was using the same definition of terrorism as elsewhere in U.K. as there was open terror by proscribed paramilitary groups but, would you believe it, no terror convictions or paramilitary sanction. [1/3]

This is the NEC submitting its own motion instructing the NEC to:

Prospect will advocate for
employers to formally adopt a policy wherever practicable of building self-contained gender-neutral
toilets and changing facilities.

Conference notes that the Equality Act 2010 provides protection against discrimination on the
grounds of a protected characteristic. This includes the protected characteristics of sex, gender
reassignment, religion or belief.
Conference believes that sex and gender identity are different and that both generate axes of
oppression which can be complex in how they intersect. Moreover, conference agrees that there are
difficult choices in this space.
Conference recognises that if the Supreme Court judgment was simply overturned it could mean sex
itself as a protected characteristic is impossible to identify and therefore impossible to protect.
Conference instructs the NEC to press for:
• Legal and advisory changes to support employers and service providers in providing trans
inclusive spaces,
• Specific protections for people based on gender identity, including legal recognition for nonbinary identities,
• Continued legal protection for sex at birth.
Conference agrees that Prospect must continue to present and deliver a balanced approach,
acknowledging and respecting differences of view. It commits the National Executive Committee
to equip representatives with information needed to uphold the rights of our trans and non-binary
members and to update such advice in the light of the final guidance from the Equality and Human
Rights Commission and developing case law.

Our client was targeted simply for participating in an inclusive family arts event, yet he was subjected to a torrent of abuse fuelled by misinformation and reckless publication.
TalkTV has now been forced to publicly retract those allegations, apologise publicly, remove the offending content, and pay substantial damages. That outcome speaks for itself.
The repeated attempt to portray drag performers as a threat to children is entirely baseless and serves only to inflame hatred and hostility towards the
LGBTQ+ community. This settlement signifies that broadcasters will be held to account when they publish defamatory allegations under the guise of opinion or debate".
