Getting the mail post-@romancingthevote.com is SO much more fun than regular mail. And look! the mug matches my cute little dragon friend!!!

A beautiful large handmade ceramic mug with finely laminated colored earth-tones clay, made even more dramatic by a blue glaze laid over half of it. A tiny sparkly dragon is draped along the handle.

I think these two are siblings. They are about the same sub-adult size and aren’t completely offended by each other’s existence. The one on the right is much braver.

Extremely cool little crab spider in my foxgloves. I’ve seen light green before but not this pure white version. Do they color change to match their environment or is this just a species I’ve not run across?

A crab spider with wide-spread front legs, slightly lifted because she was alarmed at me getting close with my phone. She’s completely white except for a red stripe running down each side of her abdomen. She’s sitting in the opening of a white foxglove, a tube-shaped flower. The flower is near the end of its bloom, so it’s a bit wrinkly and dry looking

My grandma died this week, so I made some rhubarb turnovers in memory of all the rhubarb we ate every year at Grandma Camp (we’d go spend a couple weeks at their house, eating rhubarb pie & blackberries w/cream, making jello jigglers, fishing in the pond and catching fireflies)

normally we have the fun, cute spiders (cat-face, jumping, grass, etc), but this lady has also taken up residence outside, and is making it hard for the contractors to finish the foundation repairs due to mice damage! I’m putting it behind a click because it’s textbook “creepy spider”

Screen shot of a 24hr seismograph from our basement seismometer. There are 3 large incidents: in 15:00 UTC is the 5.6 in Northern CA, 22:15 has the 7.5 in Venezuela, and 22:40 has the 6.3 in Japan. They all show up around the same magnitude because the smaller earthquakes are closer to Montana.

Old lady Xan enjoying the sunshine. Picking up gaba & buprenorphine later today so we can keep her comfortable for however long she has left. Hoping it’s months, not days/weeks, but without doing diagnostics on the mass in her mouth, all we can do is keep track of her quality of life.

Pine Siskin party. Very few chickadees right now (weird!), so no one’s eating the safflower cylinder. I might pull it and crush it up to mix into the black oil sunflower seeds i put in the mesh tray.
