A little excitement this afternoon when a hippo came out of nowhere, between myself and my kids, as I was fixing our remote telemetry system.
Sometimes...it just takes a little longer to get where you are going ...
This is why we hire Maasai to help. They can spot the hippo moving in the bush much further than we can see.

Oh yeah. Heavy rains. Here we are. An African clawed frog just arrived at camp, and we're 1km from the river....
Zebra crossing upstream, one was taken...and these big boys started moving upstream.
Within five minutes of the giraffe pooping, the dung beetles were already working thru it...
Our weather station was taken out by a controlled burn, right after a flood destroyed our water quality meter. The Mara River ecosystem in Kenya is studying us now.
