Well, fuck. Someone just told me that there was an update to their website yesterday and games will be broadcast on ESPN Select. So NEVER MIND I GUESS. Good for them getting the money I guess but god damn I hate capitalism.

We’re excited to officially announce the broadcast distributors for the highly anticipated 2026 WPBL Inaugural Season! ESPN will serve as the U.S. distributor for all regular season and playoff games. Complementing ESPN, the Scripps Sports Network will broadcast a select slate of regular season games. Internationally, the games will be broadcast on YouTube for baseball fans living outside the US. Internationally, games will be streamed on YouTube for baseball fans outside of the USA.

“Securing powerhouse broadcast distributors like ESPN and the Scripps Sports Network for our inaugural season is a monumental milestone for the Women’s Pro Baseball League,” said Keith Stein, CEO of the WPBL. “This hybrid distribution model combines the digital reach of ESPN with the broad accessibility of the Scripps Sports Network. We are thrilled to bring the energy, talent, and excitement of professional women’s baseball into the homes of sports fans everywhere.”

We can't be expected to use headlights when we drive forever

They're inconvenient and make my eyes hurt

I've been driving for years without them, and I haven't killed anything

Well, I don't know that for sure

I hit a few things in the night, but nobody told me they died

And it doesn't matter that much anyway

They're animals

The chances of me killing an actual human are much lower!

They probably had pre-existing conditions too - I saw one of them limping across the road

I can't be held responsible for that - surely?

And it's not like headlights protect me from danger either

You can't expect me to go out of my way just to make sure someone else doesn't get themselves hit

I'm always responsible when I cross the road

I look both ways

They say they often feel like they have to question their reality when their friends claim to care about them, but continue to gather unsafely. For other sick and disabled queers across the globe, the concensus among us seems to be that seeing our community gather unsafely makes us feel Really Bad.

“I feel completely abandoned and betrayed,” says Gaby Sanchez, a South African queer disabled writer and disability justice activist. They say it’s a sentiment that was also shared by others based around the world that they heard speak at the November Sick-In-Quarters Hideaway event, a virtual pandemic support gathering for high risk people.

Sanchez says that seeing a lot of queer people gather unsafely, some even before regulations were lifted, and the defensive way organizers dismissed their safety concerns, made them realize how toxic and unsafe their local LGBTQ2S+ community is for them.

I don’t argue to discourage anyone from taking action, however disorganized, spotty, or trivial that action might be. In a moment of gut-wrenching collective weakness against the unspeakable violence carried out by ICE, I don’t blame anyone for reposting an infographic or slowing down at work. It’s simply not worth the energy to go after well-intentioned members of my own community.

What I do want to scream is that a strike is not a spell. A small business cannot strike. A single worker cannot call a strike. Nor can a union president, a politician, a celebrity, say the magic word and have it be so.

A boycott is not a strike. Shopping small is not a strike. Working slow is not a strike. Elite capture is a system of appropriating and watering down radical language as a way of disempowering a movement. Don’t let them take this word from us. Don’t let them dull down the incredible power of workers going on strike, forcing the gears of capitalist wealth production to a grinding halt. Don’t let them lie to you about how a strike happens: the many hours of organizing to build trust and capacity among a group of workers, and the collective decision that leads to that green light.

If you’re feeling powerless today, please talk to your coworkers. Maybe one day soon there will be rumblings of a general strike in your city. If you have a union by then, or even a game plan you came up with together in Dan the Line Cook’s living room, you’re already more powerful than a thousand social media infographics could ever be.

Good to see evidence that focusing on anything, even stuff I want to do and enjoy, is difficult, frustrating, and just as exhausting as physically-demanding activities.

“The scans show changes in the brain regions which may contribute to cognitive difficulties such as memory problems, difficulty concentrating, and slower thinking.”

The research supported what many people with ME/CFS and Long COVID experience which was that cognitive effort was not just tiring but could have real neurological impacts, and adequate rest was not optional but essential.
