Only his charge of simple assault was mentioned at the hearing, though he was initially charged with assault on a police officer
Maryland has four air toxics monitoring sites but they are all between Baltimore and Washington DC.
There is an air toxics station in Beltsville MD, about 15 miles northeast of DC, which peaked at 160 AQI at 7 am, so it will have results on the air toxics as well.
Because the samples require lab analysis (and the Trump regime has gutted federal scientific capacity) it will take weeks to months for the results to be reported. There is one air toxics monitoring station in MacMillan Reservoir that is within the plume.
Real progress in dissipation of the fireworks airborne toxic event. DC air is merely at unhealthy levels now (according to PM2.5 levels, not monitoring heavy metals). #freedc
The air in the DC region has continued to worsen, with readings of 288 and 278 in the toxic core, which is now forming its own subplume covering Wards 2, 6, 7, and 8, reaching into Arlington, and PG County down to Rosaryville up to Woodlawn. The temperature is already 79°F. #freedc
The plume continues to spread, with a highly dangerous core of smoke still concentrated over the dense Black neighborhoods of SE Washington and PG County. Note how Vienna and Arlington and New Carrollton are now in the plume. Hazardous air quality from Fredericksburg to Bowie to Montross.
The localized fireworks pollution has combined with the unhealthy haze of wildfire smoke that covers the entire nation. Cooking the planet until everything burns turns out to have consequences.
Plume evolution shows the toxic core over DC's Ward 8 and PG County in Maryland, the part of the region with the highest Black population
Toxic plume from the fireworks barrage has poisoned the air around DC. Check air quality carefully this morning before going outside. Highest reading is 256 for PM2.5 #freedc #america250
@nytimes.com published its first fossil-fuel industry climate-denial op-ed in 1967. The NYT Science section regularly promoted climate denial. The NYT hosted a global summit for the oil industry and collaborated with Exxon and BP on advertorials. Its opinion pages are rife with climate deniers.
In terms of absolute heat, the DMV area, Portugal, and Mongolia are rivaling the Sahara and Pakistan and northern India
The heat wave over Antarctica right now is actually more extreme in terms of deviation from the pre-anthropogenic climate. Inland China, Portugal, and northern Canada have heat waves as extreme as the one broiling the eastern United States.
The latest @nytimes.com example of decade after decade of minimizing the scientific fact and moral crime that the fossil-fuel industry has made billions of dollars selling a product they knew was globally destructive. Equivocation, misdirection, and omission all on display.
Stephen Miller denounces the Trump regime as "destroyers": "Those who only destroy. Who litter, who rob, who graffiti, who deface, who degrade..." #freedc
Pretty big list of legislation here. Dominion needs to be brought to heel and the data centers stopped. But this is a good start.
Here's the CBP officer who was facing away in the other photo #freedc #bigballsgoonshow
