hanging out with a fifth grader for two hours (childcare fell through so he’s stuck with me!) he doesn’t have a book or anything else to occupy him, so I took pity and asked him what his favorite dessert is now we’re co-authoring poetry inspired by tetanus shots
it’s funny bc if you just crop noem’s confusingly verbose quote (a lesson here in sentence construction) she says something true!
I read THE BEST little graphic novel today at work (very few kids showed up to after school library) called DOGS OF WAR and its three beautiful stories inspired by real dogs in real wars — WWI, WWII, Vietnam. Themes of compassion, connection, companionship. Not shy on suffering. I cried a lot!

well I let the cake melt a bit but ! the T. rex candle (free because I am a regular at the stationery store) didn’t seem to mind :) sort of a darkly symbolic placement of said dino. a boring birthday but my heart is full :)
