Last week I was at an event to help mark 30 years of Hull and East Yorkshire's Childrens University, hearing the reflections of the man who founded it, John Buttrick MBE. John built an incredible organisation, that's going from strength to strength now under the current leadership.

Hull's magnificent Maritime Museum has reopened to the public today! Get yourself along soon. You won't be disappointed. Here's my look around.

I've written to the new PM, inviting him to come to Hull. Hull's a great city, with tremendous potential. There's no doubt, though, that we could get so much more done working with the government. Come to Hull, PM, and work with us to help unlock the city's potential.

Today I went to check out the work being carried out cleaning the cenotaph and war memorial. This is something many residents have asked to be done, so I am pleased we are getting on with it. A big thank you to the team doing the job.

Congratulations to all those graduating this week from the University Of Hull. I am sure you had a brilliant time in the city. For those moving on elsewhere, you are always welcome back, but please spread the word on what a great place Hull is.

A lovely day at the Big Malarkey literature festival in East Park. It is brilliant that this sort of event is held right here in Hull and everyone who came along today had a wonderful time. It is on again tomorrow too!

This week Hull has hosted the Music Cities Convention. This is a significant event in the music industry, and incredibly prestigious for the city to be able to host it. Another sign that the city is the place to be. I'm sure all the visitors enjoyed their time here in Hull.

At yesterday's council AGM I was re-elected as leader of Hull City Council. It's an incredible honour to continue in this role.

Hooray! You can now get into and enjoy Queen's Gardens! Had a look around today and really impressed. Great to see people heading down to take a look for themselves and see groups enjoying spending time in the gardens playing games or having a picnic. Go have a look too.

Welcome to Hull the Brisbane Broncos! While many in Hull and beyond will be hoping for a KR victory tonight, I also want to comment on the significance of this match to the city.

Hull's, much loved, Maritime Museum is undergoing a major transformation. I had a chance to take a look at the progress and I can say for sure when the public gets to return to the museum, you will fall in love with the place all over again. An exciting moment is coming this year.

Hull loves its sport and I know just how important it is. It can bring communities together and has tremendous benefits for those who take part. Great, then, to spend some time with Lewie Coyle today, hearing about his academy and his plans for its future. Thank you Lewie.

First visit to Hull's 107FM of the year. We talked about the disappointing rail announcements, local government finance and some questions all about who I am as a person. Lots of fun to be back in the studio this morning.

Finally managed to pop in and see the Young Artists open exhibition at the Ferens. We have some very impressive and imaginative young artists in the city. Very impressed.

Enjoyed a visit to Newland St John's school, as part of their aspirations day. This saw a range of occupations represented for the pupils to get an idea about opportunities available for them. Pleased to say after a series of questions, they were able to identify what my job is!

Great to pop into the Hull 107FM studio this morning and spend some time on air with Pete Mills. Covered issues like the state of local government finance, what has been going on this year and what is to come in 2026. Will be back in there in the new year too and always keen to hear from residents.

Hull City Hall hosting Hull Vineyard's A very piratey Christmas carols service this afternoon, with special guests Gem from CBeebies show Swashbuckle.

Blue plaque unveiled today for Hull born Amos Burn, who died this day 100 years ago. He went on to be one of the world's most successful chess players, after learning at the relatively late age of 16.

Felabration! Took five minutes out to visit the special exhibition as part of Black History Month at Wilberforce House. It tells the story of Afrobeat and it's founder, Fela Kuti. Good to see Nigel Taylor narrating the video on Clave too. Go see it while you.

With Hull fair underway, a big thank you to all those who are involved with making it happen. From the council's events team, the police, first aid, clean up crews and many more. If you are going, enjoy all the fun of the fair.

Lib Dem conference is about to get underway. It's a special one for me and a big one for the party.

Yesterday I attended Stand's first summer service at the Memorial to Hull's Lost Trawlermen. It always strikes me that there cannot be many industries that saw 6,000 men die working in it from one area over a period of around 150 years in the way this industry did. We should rightly remember them.

It's panto time (oh no it's not!). This year's Hull New Theatre panto, Beauty and the Beast, is launched at the Big Malarkey, with some of the stars of the show in attendance.
