I do not get to spend as much time as I would like in my community garden plot. Yesterday I did get to visit and the scarlet bee balm was glorious. The mountain mint was as blooming. Last year I rescued both these plants from a path. Thank goodness. 🌱

I made my first lattice top this week. I learned a lot. While a bit misshapen, I am happy to say it was delicious.

Strawberry Rhubarb pie. The all butter pie crust is nicely browned with the red strawberries and the greenish rhubarb visible under the lattice.

I made it to my local book store today, picked up a book I ordered before it got too hot and dropped off a big stack of books we had read for store credit. I got 15% the order, saw a friend and lots more books I want to read.

Updated pinned post. Gardening continues to ground me. This is my fourth year with a community garden plot. Not only do we continue to muddle through Long Covid as a family, I have newly onset health issues of my own. I continue to read research & advocate with the spoons I have. #LongCovidKids

Why in 2026 is the @bostonglobe.com referencing a a paper from 2020 about Covid and children? I realize the focus of the article is not children, however the casual minimization of the impact Covid has had on children continues. This narrative is harmful. #LongCovidKids

And now we are passing through Connecticut.

The 2026 panettone is out of the oven. I baked one large one and six mini-moulds for New Years Day. The minis are different flavors (candied orange peel, cranberry/golden raisins and choc chips). It is so much work to maintain the lievieto madre all year and yet the house smells amazing. #BreadSky

Upside down panettone between two white plastic boxes I used to store my taxes. The panettone has a classic Italian mould a brown paper with a gold embossed flowers. The bread itself has a glaze of cocoa powder and almond flour dotted with small white Swedish pearl sugar.

Cognitive dissonance post. Do you know what it would help more than washing hands? High-quality masking. I spent 20 minutes in a waiting room at MGH/Spaulding yesterday. Only a handful of people wear masked, mostly in surgical. So many people were coughing and hacking. #CovidIsAirborne

I have just started listening to the audio books. I somehow managed to be invited to a private group luncheon with the author in October. I started listening at 1.20 speed. 🫠

Updated pinned post. Gardening still keeps me grounded. This is my third year with a community garden plot as well as the third summer our family has navigated Long Covid. I continue to read as much research to advocate and help as many families as I can. #LongCovidKids

My community garden plot with several large purple coneflowers in bloom. It is a wall of large green leaves with pops of purple, white orange and pink. Additionally I am growing three varieties of black eyed Susan’s, cornflowers, Shasta daisies and nasturtiums. Interspersed are several garlic plants, salvia tomatoes and in the back of the plot cosmos.
