“Lately, I've been thinking, how much I miss my lady Amoreena's in the cornfield, brightening the daybreak Living like a lusty flower, running through the grass for hours Rolling through the hay like a puppy child.” -Amoreena - John/Taupin 1970
About 45 yrs ago, I got a German shepherd, and have had them ever since. When the time came to let my last one escape the pain, and say goodbye, I was crushed. I went to the ASCPA every evening in search of the next one, my heart in tatters. This little girl saved my life. 50/50 GSD/Coyote.
In case you got caught up with news and chaos… It IS Friday. And this what “it’s Friday and I’m in love” looks like in casa de pumpkin.
This is Pumpkin, a sweet female Shepherd/Coyote that I rescued soon after losing my last GSD 6 months ago. This is the result of a lot of hard work to tame her prey drive. My neighbor feeds a stray cat that you see, and she sleeps on our porch, is in front of our stairs often. Im proud of her.
When I was very young, “The Great Escape” was a movie I looked forward to coming on once per year on old rabbit ear TV’s. This man was my hero, because his RESIST game was strong. Be like Hilts, “the cooler king” (Steve McQueen)
There is a sky-raisin in our home that is popping up intermittently on momma girls radar, and she is obsessed. Stone-cold fly assassin mode = tired puppy dog later on.
Happy national rescue day! Patrice, the black and tan was rescued from Shanghai, China, and Pumpkin, the white/tan GSD/coyote from El Cajon, CA. Please rescue or adopt. Go to your local shelter, volunteer or just sit with a dog and remind them that there is good in this world.
What a beautiful momma! I’ve had GSD’s most of my life, and now have my first mixed female, and she is the bestest! Swiss shep/Coyote:
This is (formerly) Bob the Octopus, pictured with the mad surgeon. Bob has been in the house less than 4 hours. Bob no longer has tentacles. If I threw Bob into the ocean, Bob would not swim. It is Bob. Bob the Nullapus, formerly an Octopus.
“Boston, you’re my home…” Guess I’ll by my “fighting Nazi’s since 1996” shirt tomorrow… Maybe I’ll buy 2.
I’m with you on this. I have lost family older and younger than I, but none of them hit me as hard, nor for as long, as losing my best friend. The hole was so large when he left that the only thing I could do, was rescue another, and as much as I love her, I will always miss him.
Drove out to Mt Laguna with my bestie to try some mountain barbecue, and then some scouting around (he’s a local archeologist and historian, so I always learn stuff) and stopped here to brew a fresh cup of coffee. This is one of my “soul reset” places.
I received test results back from UC Davis Vet Genetics Lab. Swiss Shepherd and western coyote (most probably from a coyote line from the southern Sierra Nevada’s), probably specifically bred. A coy dog muppet bedspread shark. How could you not love that face?!?
On a gig many years ago, from the lift table on the back of a box truck, I was presented with the “Notable Peas Award in the catagory of Music Production” for sweeping the back of the truck.
