Indeed, sociological research suggests that it is the people who already have considerable money, status, or both that are more likely to win grants, fellowships, and awards, especially more prestigious honors that enhance the cultural cachet of recipients. This tendency exists due to the ways that social networks, cumulative advantages, and access to greater resources play a role in the preparation of the application, recommender solicitation, and ultimate selection process. And, once you’ve won an award, you’re much more likely to win another.

The question is, if the weight of evidence points to an exponential increase in excess deaths since 2020, and the recent deaths of multiple WB stars are consistent with this shifted baseline, how are people not noticing? Or, if they are noticing, why are they shifting to the next topic?

One possible reason is a worldwide failure of government agencies to resource an effective long-term public health response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

$State officials also aren’t much of an ally when it comes to pay at public colleges and universities. For one thing, some states have considerable control over compensation but only fund a fraction of institutions’ budgets. On the off chance there is a state-mandated pay increase, institutions must figure out how to cover it in the absence of adequate state funding. The result is either higher tuition and fees or, ironically, layoffs to afford raises. Some compensation absurdities stem from state lawmakers whose main goal is spending less on government in general and on higher ed in particular.$

As Mozilla moves forward, we will focus on becoming the trusted software company. This is not a slogan. It is a direction that guides how we build and how we grow. It means three things. First: Every product we build must give people agency in how it works. Privacy, data use, and AI must be clear and understandable. Controls must be simple. AI should always be a choice — something people can easily turn off. People should know why a feature works the way it does and what value they get from it. Second: our business model must align with trust. We will grow through transparent monetization that people recognize and value. Third: Firefox will grow from a browser into a broader ecosystem of trusted software. Firefox will remain our anchor. It will evolve into a modern AI browser and support a portfolio of new and trusted software additions.

Community participant cmuir asks, "Will OpenAI have access to Canvas course content for training purposes? And, if yes, will it make a difference if the course instructor has opted out of all OpenAI integrations?" Instructure employee DeepaPrasad replies, "Hi @cmuir no course content will be used for training purposes by OpenAI, full stop."
