Lately I’ve been exploring different mediums to use for real media pieces (colored pencils, watercolor pencils, oil pastels, etc) and testing different papers/surfaces with them. I was wondering if this is something people might be interested in seeing in video format?
While Toasty just tries to slowly gnaw on them, Loki will stare at them for a while before suddenly LUNGING and biting them. He’s so gentle with people but slightly terrifying with anything he views as a toy or food. 😅 I mean look at those TEEF (thankfully he is a pretty good boy)

He has such a crazy long neck! I sometimes joke we should’ve named him Littlefoot. Definitely the longest cat I’ve ever had, & biggest! He’s a little over a year old now and huge.
Sometimes it’s neat looking at photos of leopard cats and seeing what traits persisted all the way through the generations to Loki. Easy to see where he gets those giant eyes! And the sharp arch of his spine and overall longcat build.
Loki is also prime art ref material, especially with all those leopard cat traits! (Flatter skull, large knuckles, etc) that at times make him look like a mini leopard or lion. Look at those big paws! He also has such a weirdly long neck and tail. XD
Beepo was such a good art model because she was so lanky so you could see her anatomy really well, and she would sit or lay in some rather lion-ish poses at times. Still miss her terribly.
As my health is improving a little I’m trying to get back to doing art regularly and figured the best way to do that was to go back to my roots: TLK fanart. I’d say “it’s like riding a bike” except I’m actually terrible at bike riding. But this I never forget how to do!

Y’know how indoor cats sometimes mime “burying” their leftover food? I had a bowl of spaghetti sitting on a tray next to me in bed, and Toasty hopped up, sniffed the bowl, and promptly started “burying” it. Not sure if she thought she was saving it for me…or herself. 🤔
That giant board probably isn’t totally necessary, and I think my old boards used to be much smaller (here’s one from like 5 or 6 years ago). I suspect this is the effects of me trying to control *something* after 10 years of bad chronic illness worsening ADHD & 4 straight years of no art at all.
This is the last one I started in VizRef (for the outlanders) & the app started crashing before I ever finished organizing some of the later-added sections. But even JUST the Vitani section of it is pretty put of control.
This is one I made JUST for a silly little personal project (chore chart/sticker reward thing for my kid).
My kid is obsessed with DTI & was teaching me how to play last night… And I gotta say thank you to whichever overly kind people gave me 3rd place for THIS atrocity (during the “famous art” round), which I can only describe as “if a Lisa Frank trapper keeper puked on a mannequin” 😂:

Toasty ask Loki where food go? but he just make strange noises, drop toy in Toasty’s water bowl, and run off. rude Think maybe he possessed. Toasty try exorcism, but he just make more strange noises and crawl up wall. He may be alien, unclear. Is very stressful. If only had more salmon, might help

I have seen many cats in strange poses…but I have never seen a cat sit in so many different strange poses as Toasty does on a daily basis.
I can’t believe it’s already been a year since Gato and Beepo passed. I still miss them so much. I love my new kitties obviously, but Gato and Beepo were such a huge part of my life for 14 years. They were my constant artistic inspiration and the cats that made me love cats.
If you’ve never pet a Bengal, I highly recommend it. They are seriously the softest thing I have ever touched. I don’t understand how they are SO SOFT?? I wish I could properly convey how soft he is via images alone.
Toasty is much better, thank goodness! Basically back to her usual self. Seems like she just reacted badly to a new food. I was just so worried because she was acting so unlike herself & I know cats are good at hiding illness…very relieved she’s fine.
She probably ate something she shouldn’t have (this cat is a fuzzy garbage vacuum) and hopefully she’ll feel better soon but I feel like my emotions around my cats being unwell are just on a permanent hair trigger after last year’s very unexpected awfulness. Please keep her on your thoughts.
