A simple man from The Land. Retired teacher & coach, ❤️the capybara. Joy is the echo of God's life in us. "Don't worry about being effective. Just concentrate on being faithful to the truth."-DD
My family had a truly wonderful experience @ The Glass Bubble Project, very close to the West Side Market. Michael & his staff (Becky & Dave) were most gracious. My 7 year old granddaughter lived the experience (thanks, Becky!). If you're in The Land looking for something to do, it is well worth it!
On Friday I went to the Hough branch of the CPL(close to League Park) for an amazing afternoon of learning about Larry Doby-the man, the ballplayer, & the parent. I found myself rather teary-eyed throughout the panel discussion. Larry Doby Jr did his father proud. LD was my late mother's favorite.
..."despite"? Many--perhaps even most--of the movies I'd rate as great/classic are B & W films. Some are even silent! If you get a chance, find & watch The Passion of Joan of Arc, 1928.
Although I loved The World Book @ the library, we had multiple grocery store sets.
So, we were trying to recreate a situation that occurred last year. Here is the protocol: 1) Stop @ Culver's near dusk for a mixer. 2) Drive into the Metroparks & down Main St. 3) Look for a woodcock. Sure enough, there was a woodcock near the side of the road. When I approached, it flew off! (NMP)
A confession: I have never liked soccer. I remember my HS gym teacher having a 1-day unit on soccer in 1974.(He, too, was not a fan.) I respect the athleticism & endurance required(put those skills to use in XC, instead). What makes me crazy are those who feign excitement about headlines like this:
I really like Pope Leo. I like the Guardians. I'm indifferent toward Chicago(city). The 2005 White Sox won the WS, ending the drought(1917). The Cubs defeated the team from The Land in 2016, ending their drought(1908). -We don't need the Pope intervening on behalf of the Sox this year! #GuardsBall
I posted an article today from The Guardian about Pope Leo. The last paragraph really is so true. I thank the author for having the organs to speak such truths...
The Buoys declined their invitation to the Freedom 250 festival. Instead, they'll be playing @ the annual Timothy BBQ Festival at the Seneca Caverns in Bellevue, OH.
After checking with the K-Tel management team, both Boxcar Willie & Slim Whitman declined invitations to perform @ the Freedom 250 concert. They cited a conflict with the annual Strawberry Pie Week @ the Valley View(OH) Big Boy restaurant.
The Schmenge Brothers have declined their invitation to play @ the America 250 event, citing a previous commitment to the Halupki Festival(cabbage rolls) in Marblehead, Ohio.
BREAKING: The Archies, as well as Josie & the Pussycats, have withdrawn from the Freedom 250 Celebration.
@smackbrl.bsky.social & I visited Pierogi House on Pearl in Parma Hts for our 44th anniversary (!!). As a maker of pierogi, I was impressed. Perfect dough, tremendous filling(potato & cheddar), & cooked correctly. The chicken schnitzel sandwich was massive & delicious. A lovely meal!(we'll be back!)
Sit with that for a moment... everyone named is still morally bankrupt... Sadly, there are STILL millions of folks who refuse to see the evil..hear the evil & speak out against the evil. 🙈🙉🙊
My wife & I went to this restaurant @ 4606 W 130th in The Land for the 1st time on Tuesday. We had a wonderful meal in a beautiful setting. Next door is a store that is also very nice. My wife had some pupusas. I had casamiento. We both enjoyed a glass of jamaica. We will return!
There was a nice turnout for the "No Kings" protest in Strongsville, OH! I am encouraged by the growth in size & the increasing number of young people getting involved. I am also pleased by folks not engaging w/agitators driving by. A cold but sunny day! #MuchHope
...getting ready to make a dessert for our church's last fish fry...falling back on my Gram's Water Rising Rolls. I have not transitioned to all recipes on the computer. I like the grittiness of well-worn, hand written, slightly stained pieces of paper. It places me back in my Gram's kitchen...
@ halftime of Super Bowl 1...Len Dawson of the Chiefs. Love the Fresca...
