@junkboxjim.bsky.social , Here's a chart from Wikipedia citing DoD records of the number of US casualties by month for each year of the war in Afghanistan. It says 3 in Oct, 2001, 4 in Nov, 2001 and 4 in Dec 2001. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...
Another search says 55 US soldiers died the first month in the US lead war in Afghanistan.
@junkboxjim.bsky.social , according to my AI assistant, 8 US soldiers died the first month in the war with Afghanistan.
Watched a lovely bicolored striped-sweat bee (Agapostemon virescens) on my pale purple coneflowers. #Boise #Idaho #pollinators
The Fire Chalice/ Creeping Hummingbird Trumpet (Zauscherhneria garretti) is starting to bloom in the pots I put together at Clairvoyant Brewing. It's native to southern Idaho.
A lovely snakefly hitched a ride into the house, I carried her back outside in a glass. Fly away pretty lady, and eat some aphids.
An Aphrodite Fritillary (Speyeria aphrodite) butterfly was on the White Valarian today. #butterflies #Boise #Idaho #pollinators
Head down to Clairvoyant Brewing Company today for their Czech Pilsner. $5 today in honor of the new brew. 2800 W. Idaho St, Boise.

Went to my youngest's graduation from CalPoly Humboldt last Sat. So proud of him. He graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry and has been accepted into the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine where he will work on stem cell and gene therapy research for a year, and then start his PHd.
This was the crescent moon and Venus on May 18, 2026 as seen from Boise, Idaho at 10:19pm. I was surprised the shadowed side was still as visible as it was.
Somebody blends beautifully into the pile of sheets and towels I just washed.
Had a Western Sculptured Pine Borer (Chalcophora angulicollis) land by me while staining an unfinished pine armoire. They fly with a huge buzz noise. Metallic sparkles on the elytra, bronze eyes, & pinkish purple underside of abdomen with metallic blue-purple upper side of abdomen when flying.
Drove down to the Boise River for a bit of a break from unloading flagstone out of the truck. Gorgeous day out. Love the sound of the flowing river. Think I'll grab a Hawkins Pac-out ice cream cone on the way home.
Bought two pallets of flagstone to expand my walkways and patio. Only moved one pallet at a time in the pickup. Will grab the second one tomorrow after I unload today. The project will have to wait till mid May after the primary, as I'm busy with early voting.
Excited to find a cute juvenile western #toad (Anaxyrus boreas) in my #pollinator garden. This is one reason I don't use pesticides/herbicides, or take out all the leaves/completely clean out the flower beds. I'll put out a shallow saucer of water and some pieces of wood for it to hide under. #Boise
I planted 7 barrels at Clairvoyant Microbrewery, at 28th and Idaho in Boise, with native Idaho perennials. Excited to watch these evolve as the plants grow. I already have native bumblebees visiting them.
Meriwether Grapefruit Rosemary hard cider at Clairvoyant Brewery at 28th and Idaho in Boise. Very good.
So, I was doing some gardening today. Never bruised my left hand like this before.
I played with puppies again. ♥️ This time it was adorable 7-week old Norwegian Elk Hound pups. They were very interested in shoe laces.
