Robots are quickly evolving from direction driven machines to free thinking, non-deterministic humanoids, thanks to an ingenious group of artificial intelligence scientists from Hong Kong and Texas; and to the funding of a prominent New York science investor, called Jeffrey Epstein.

For a long time, robots looked largely like clunky machines that relied on deterministic algorithmic pathways. Over the last decade however, Hanson Robotics, based in Richardson, Texas, has revolutionized the appearance of robots with responsive facial expressions, synthesized rubber skin, called frubber and delicate features. Collaborator, Mark Tilden, creator of BEAM robotics and the WowWee Robosapien humanoid robot, has also produced complex robotic movements from analog logic circuits, discrete electronic components, and usually without a microprocessor. And to fill their heads, artificial intelligence group, OpenCog has stepped in to give these humanoid sculptures, a brain.

Based in Hong Kong, OpenCog, an open source AI programming group, under the direction of Ben Goertzel, began their cerebral project with a Hanson Robokind: a toddler like robot. The challenge is to take the basic intelligence of virtual avatars programmed for the screen, and transfer that to a robotic structure. To do this however, a robot must have the capacity to perceive and interpret the outside world.

i am on my knees begging the mainstream media to stop uncritically platforming these doomsday cultists Anthropic, OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and parts of academia are literally ground zero for all of this!

Our approach to understanding the meat computers encased in our skulls has historically varied by discipline. The British scientist David Marr proposed a layered framework. At the bottom of any system was its microscopic structure: what was happening, neuroscientists asked, in the physical substrate of the brain? The top layer was the macroscopic behavior scrutinized by psychologists: what problems was it trying to solve, and why? When the researchers who started at the bottom eventually met those who started at the top, we’d finally see how it all fit together. The more scientific branches of A.I.—not only at Anthropic but also at OpenAI, Google DeepMind, and in academia—have tended to recapitulate this structure.

the former CEO of Reddit thinks that high RAM prices are an omen of an AI apocalypse that could end all of humanity he also apparently thinks that we need more kids before this apocalypse so that we can "perish with dignity" this is a doomsday cult!

Y'all know that the RAM prices skyrocketing is the first sign of the paperclipping, right?

Right now my leading candidate for how the paperclip maximizer doom scenario actually unfolds in practice is someone asking a sufficiently powerful AGI to "solve climate change" and it does so in a way that eliminates, ruins, or heavily demotes humans.

I think we need more parents working on Al alignment and fewer childless singles.

If we are going to perish, I want us to perish with dignity.
