CompromiseDev | Wishlist Compromised Investigator
@compromisedev
Solodev developing Compromised Investigator. Please wishlist if it seems interesting: Cups of coffee would be greatly appreciated: Little games I've made before:
Thanks! 🥰 Actually, that map is what decided the visuals 😅 It's from one of my little 48h gamejam game. You can see from the distribution of the scores that I spent way too much of the allocated 48h drawing the map 🤣
The enemy and the Sun Pendant were designed before I knew that I'd end up having a Vampire as the second playable character 😅 The Pendant is described as being able to emit a Holy Light that destroys everything unpure in its vicinity. Lucien can use it, but it's very much unadvisable 🤣
How I would manage it? Easily 🥰 What would it do? Who knows 🤣 If you meant the combat sprites instead, I've at least for now opted to not have any of the afflictions affect them. It'd make me even less likely to animate any of them 🥲
Should be a bit more impactful than the plain thank you screen I had implemented before. 🤣 It won't be the only ending either 🥰
Oh, fuck me.. Took on an errand to design some corporate stickers. Been too long since I drew anything with this many pixels. Can't even draw a straight line anymore🤣 Don't ask how long I spent on this until I decided that this humiliation must be filmed😅 I wonder if pixel art would do...🫠
In-Game Journal tagging added to the LoreBible 🎉 Now the unlockable in-game journal is populated directly from the wiki in the HTML-tool instead of a separate Lore.csv 🥰 Just the fact that now my spellchecker and search can reach them is a massive plus! 😀 #gamedev #indiedev #programming
The [[links]] are definitely Obsidian inspired! 🥰 But it's a custom tool: HTML file + Python server, reading the same CSVs the game runs on. So the lore bible, the event editor, and the game itself use the same files. Adding a tags to make lines from the LoreBible appear in the in-game journal ❤️
For me, typing isn't an issue! 🥰 My pile of unpublished novels from years ago is a proof of that. Getting anything actually finished seems to be the issue for me. My pile of unpublished novels from years ago is a proof of that 🤣
I like that one a lot too, but that's because I get to "cheat" there. 🥰 It's not animated frame by frame. Instead, the sprite is actually broken into individual pixels that are then moved around programmatically. Instead of 7 frames, I have dozen sliders 🤣 Once adjusted, it works for all sprites.
Many ways, but I'll give an existing example: "Sunburst Pendant" and Elias. He can be fought at different times. But you can also retrieve the pendant for him only for him to later use it in battle, even against you. If you happen to turn undead before meeting him again, you might be in trouble 🤣
Had to make enemy loot actually check the inventory of the enemy since some enemies can gain items during the game 🥰 As a bonus, healing items drop from enemies only if you managed to defeat them before they used them up. CharacterData.cs is getting out of hand...🫠 #gamedev #indiedev #programming
Nope, no database! The CSVs ARE the database 😄 The HTML page runs on a tiny local python server. It reads/writes the same CSV + .asset files the Unity loads at runtime, so there's nothing to sync. That node graph is auto-generated straight from the CSVs. Edit in the tool = edit the game 🥰
The HTML tool I made to help me make and test the game! 🥰 It has slowly started to pile up features. tbh, I barely open Unity anymore, the game's content is mostly managed in this HTML tool 😅 Video is too long to be interesting, but it shows more or less all of the features 😍
Thanks! 😄 Started as Event editor: HTML page that reads/edits my actual CSVs and .asset-files. Path-crawler came next: Walks every branch of a case to catch dead ends and soft-locks, and generate the flow graphs. Turns out once you can crawl every path, you can measure anything along them. 🥰
You can only visit locations as they popup on the map. They are either events pertinent to your ongoing investigations, or other miscellaneous events. The Bus Printout is actually just a printout of "surveillance photo" from the bus: "It shows a Human child talking to a Vampire." 😊
Yet another issue before the Demo 🫠 Money was almost meaningless 🤣 Too many sources of income, too few things to buy. Until I come up with fun and interesting money sinks, I'll just have to recalibrate the income. Obviously, I made a tool for that! 🥰 #gamedev #indiedev #programming
Yet another diagnostic tool 🥰 Evidence Checker! Had issues with it being possible to end the investigation early by failing all checks and ending up with no evidence. Shortcuts are fine, you'd just end up with less XP, but no evidence actually breaks the report 🫠 #gamedev #indiedev #programming
Thanks! 🥰 Building a separate testing tool where I can stage battles between characters while seeing the probabilities of the AI choices has been invaluable 😊 Good luck with your projects too! ❤️
I'm thinking of allowing it always, but the information will be obscured depending on your character's knowledge, as well as the meta knowledge the player has gathered over the playthroughs. For example; items and abilities, what you've seen used (or dropped as loot) will be revealed.
Thanks! 🥰 I like most of them too, but there's a clear disconnect in style as I drew them in two separate batches a long time apart. They are due a redraw... 🫠 These are just for the Afflictions. Two more piles of icons for Items and Abilities... 🥲
