anyways. always will have fondness for my Avatar Legends fandom era but as evergreen as ATLA is I don't know how much longitude they can get out of these projects. glhf

Even Lovecraft considered the story to be a shitty work-for-hire piece (and it has some of his most heinous racist tendencies on full display); the movie probably just wanted to stamp Lovecraft's name on and wisely samples just the best bits and has the unforgettable Jeffrey Combs
I wouldn't say *transcend* but I think "BlackBerry" succeeded by taking a very different tack from "Losing the Signal", downplaying the tech and marketing history and analysis in favor of a dramatized character study. I preferred the book but can see why someone might go the other way!

it's interesting because I feel like nearly every time I see fanart or cosplay of the Major it's the SAC uniform w/purple hair, never the '95 looks; conversely whenever people talk about "the anime" online it seems like it's almost exclusively the movie
Ezquerra doing the movie adaptation is so fascinating, seeing it in his familiar style does a lot to smooth over the (relatively) few gripes I have with the movie's costume/production design.
I do like that the catgrils hold their phones to their heads in a position that accounts for the location of their ears (though you'd almost expect them to have slightly longer phones like in umamusume)
