I enjoy enjoying things, and love video games; Speedrunner and performer/host for charity events. He/They/Him #FWAHAHA #2ndBestMuffin
First Sichuan dish I learned to make; boiled beef. It’s very thinly sliced beef with whatever veggies you have (onion celery for me), but the broth is the magic: Soy, sesame, beef broth, cilantro stem, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, and chili oil from scratch with sichuan peppercorns
So cooking has been a hobby for me for many years, tonight I did quesadillas with an Asian fusion take; homemade mayo, soy based reduction with chili oil, homemade salsa and a sharp cheese blend 👌 I’ve tried making tortillas but never been successful with them yet
I have been working a lot on overlays since having a computer again, and I just want to say how much I love my phone background. Absolute 🔥🔥🔥 (Also symbol is a tattoo on my back)
I’m back; stream in ~ 30 mins or so where I’ll be doing first time setup stuff, programming some livesplit stuff and happy to chat and answer any questions people might have because this year has been absolutely ridiculous Twitch.tv/Covert_Muffin
This is from the #SGDQ2026 photo album hahahaha 😂😂😂 I love the volunteer and staff crew hahaha bunch of meme
Day 3? Yeah it’s Tuesday; I’ve pulled like 2x 20+ hour days in the last 3 days so I am a bit out of it hahahaha On to another meetup and then volunteer shift from 4pm-8pm #SGDQ2026
On deck to couch System Shock 2 and then Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 See you on stage at #SGDQ2026 in just about 40 mins
My patron deity (allowed by the GM) was to be Shia LaBeouf, who gave me ridiculous tasks to balance it out, otherwise I would lose my warlock powers 😂 I told my friends to bring a shovel hahahaha My friend Tyler sent me this portrait, which sold for an outrageous amount of money of John McCain lmao
In one DnD campaign, I made an actor warlock, and which had disguise self at will; I could literally take the image of any humanoid and exactly mimic their voice, and so we basically infiltrated a cult and did end game stuff during the 2nd chapter
I think just seeing friends who are amazing at their craft and support them while they raise money for charity is the best: SGDQ 2022 Hosted, ran, couched, check-in, hung out with friends All of it, and sure being a host to cross 3 mil is a highlight; I worked so hard that event and it payed off
Laggy as all heck, but Citizen Sleeper has been a super chill and relaxing game series to come back to; I still haven’t played the second game but I have it Games with a lot of text not to port well to consoles, this game did itself justice, and is great on console. Another game to avoid spoilers
Not a switch game, but I also have a smartphone, so I need to shout out Hearthstone; specifically Battlegrounds which is their auto-battler I have strong Magic TG background (again millennial) and Hearthstone has a unique approach; also the game plays amazing on smartphone, but crashes a lot
Out of most of these games, it was clear to me HK would play well on controller; it’s kind of the opposite of dead cells, where I struggled less on controller than expected while playing HK This game is phenomenal and I might pick up silksong soon; another game series to avoid spoilers at all costs
The Bioshock anthology is just fun, and I honestly am surprised how good the switch ports are. I actually had never casually played the first game, but did on switch and it was decent. It’s another game series I thought I’d dislike on controller (vs kbm), but was pretty okay
Super Smash Bros Ultimate is a clear nostalgia pick; it’s another game series I grew up with as a Nintendo based millennial, but the game is quite good. I honestly love the many different modes and having a single player mode, even if it wasn’t the most well thought out. Obviously plays great MP
Cadence of Hyrule is the only controller game I’ve truly put in effort to speedrun, and people know how intense I get whenever I dedicate myself to a video game in that way. The music and mechanics in the game are brilliant (love you powerup audio) and the Zelda nod is well incorporated. Brilliant
Nier Automata; this is a game that came out when there was a massive renaissance of games that put other media to shame with story telling, visuals, audio, etc. It is a game to experience, and my longest “normal” playthrough of any game (41 hours). Yeah, it plays well on the switch + controller
Darkest dungeon ports well; that’s pretty much all that needs to be said. I guess mechanically, it’s another game where you just have to adjust to using controller, and there’s weird binds. Why are rebinding options on consoles so bad for the majority of games?
Another rogue that actually was a request from a friend to play, into the breach. Same devs as FTL, and the game ports incredibly well to the switch I’ve speedrun the game on KBM, never would on controller however. It feels amazing on controller and I am glad I have the ability to play the game
A cool pleasant surprise for me was Inscryption; it’s one of those indie games where you should avoid spoilers and experience the base game yourself. The devs however were brilliant in developing Kaycee’s Mod, which I’ve invested so much time in The switch port is solid, and is super relaxing
Another shocker for me, because UI and binds make/break games for me; but stardew valley is phenomenal on the switch It’s a game where I STRONGLY prefer KBM as an input method, but the port to switch is impressively solid. Some growing pains, but I have enjoyed playing this game a lot on switch
This one surprised me, I thought I’d hate it in all honesty from playing on controller; but Metroid prime is quite good and ports incredibly well on switch The binds and ui feel a bit awkward to get accumulated to, but they play quite well once you adapt. It’s an 8/10 game as well so has been fun
Pokemon was my generation growing up; Still remember my first elite four experience and being moved by the amazing music in silver Legends Arceus is probably the most unique iteration of the anthology; while the boss fights were boring and annoying to me, the core aspects of the game are brilliant
Continuing rogue, this is another no surprise due to the dopamine injection I get from playing it; vampire survivors It’s probably one of the few games that I’ve heard friends say universally is fun to play; the diverse character pool and simple core mechanics make it fun to burn in time playing it
Next game is another rogue and surprising one because of its terrible binds on controller; Everspace Boost on switch is pressing the joystick down, and necessary for certain hazards; however the approachability features are amazing and I used them to increase fun with adapting to using controller
I have been a huge fan of rogue-ish games, and they’ve consumed majority of my gaming time outside of speedrunning Dead Cells is a clear standout and plays ridiculously well on controller; it’s been fascinating for me, because I am much better at the game on KBM, but I’ve played it a ton still
Let’s start with an obvious GOAT of games; tears of the kingdom; the successor of breath of the wild, which itself almost established the switch as a standalone console, tears basically is breath x3 in all dimensions I’ve replayed this game so much and love it dearly and feels great on controller
Also, I will see everyone at SGDQ as a volunteer for check-in desk; I look forward to many hugs and welcoming people to the event.
Currently I am in a financial emergency: During a move my car was broken into (twice) losing 95% of everything I own Essentially now I have no money and need to raise hundreds in order to have a place to sleep. If you or anyone you know would be willing to offer aid, my Venmo is @CovertMuffin
