Loves cats, the rain, books, making stuff, and mending old things. Writes a bit, does some needlework, covered in ink and wrangles pain all the time. Will talk about Eddie the kitten, and Henry his predecessor at length.
Half of England doesn’t even have regional mayors and the few planned (in purple) have been postponed until 2028
Eddie turned 11 months old yesterday! He absolutely doesn’t care about not being allowed on the kitchen counters and is utterly devoted to his collection of blusher brushes that he carries around. If you’re lucky you might be given one. He’s still obsessed with Lucy and also loves sponge cake.
Name a TV show you're positive no-one remembers but you Fastlane, two undercover cops take down criminals using stuff they’ve confiscated. Absolutely ridiculous and was on in the early hours
Name a TV show you're positive no-one remembers but you Moonlight - a vampire PI helps the living
Here is some of my glass on shelves, although quite a lot is dotted around being used. Derbyshire lions for bookends, pickle jars and biscuit barrels for craft stuff, low tazzas to raise up cat food bowls!
Here I am wondering why I feel so awful, then I remembered. This is also why, ffs.
I’m researching how to graft an old apple tree that I love which has the perfect mix of sweet and tartness, as we lost our old cooking apple tree & I want to do some future proofing. Anyway, I came across a (US) website saying you need to replace apple trees every 5 years - ffs. 🙄
This article about Tracey Emin is really good, what she said about making something beautiful is empowering too. She was done such a disservice in the 90s, I think now we’d have been more sympathetic www.theguardian.com/artanddesign...
This email chain seemed a bit weird “I refuse to forget you”. Also that Epstein was visiting Lebedev. I wonder if it was Lebedev Snr he was talking about.
I have a question - I have these mother of pearl buttons that are at least 1920s but probably earlier, and the brass loops on the back have verdigris on them. I was going to scrub them with vinegar and salt, then dry - would that be OK? Thank you ❤️
Did you use a dip pen or a fountain pen? I used my Waterman that is quite the gusher and came out with this!
A BSH, his face is already filling out, but his fur is a lot more silky than Henry or Lucy. This is his grandad who was utterly gorgeous and was in charge of charming the visitors and letting the kittens romp on him while he ate their food!
Eddie has a new routine that involves him hanging out with Mum and Dad in the afternoon (he likes the news and football). Mum put a blanket over him, worrying he was too cold but he got too hot and preferred to use it as a hammock
Merry Christmas everyone, I’m having a rest along with Eddie who tired himself playing with his toys from Father Christmas - the donut bed/tube was so much fun I thought I had a Large Hadron Collider situation going on
Today we tried to create a photo for Christmas of the cats looking through a hole in some wrapping paper and it worked surprisingly well. What was best was seeing Eddie show Lucy what to do and encourage her through the hole in the paper like he was doing the Crufts agility course!
She’s gorgeous, BSH are lovely cats - I have my own recent addition, this is Eddie. They both have big paws to fill!
Desensitising Eddie who is so exhausted from playing he doesn’t want to move, and decided to conk out on the windowsill regardless of the fireworks.
Things are OK kitten wrangling, Eddie is a delight. Lucy is warming up to him, which involves a lot of spying on her part and me going all Pulp Fiction telling them that ‘we’re three little Fonzies, be cool’. Today they ate together separated by the gate and Lucy def ate more than she had done 🙌
Jane Austen’s statue has been unveiled in Winchester and I’m astonished how, with so many fantastic female sculptors around locally, we ended up with such a ropey statue. He said it was the product of his imagination, tbf he seems to have put her father in a dress 🙄
Guys, help! I collect Victorian ladies magazines and the seller on eBay ‘helpfully’ sent me some ‘other bits’ that I really don’t want. Including some turn of the century photos. Do you know someone who wants them? I’ll happily pop them in the post #oldphotos
I’m getting a thermometer for Henry and this is the picture in one of them - every time I look at it I get the giggles
Yes, we have a stunning Iris that is a deep velvety purple and black, and she is a little surprise too. It’s amazing how some flowers just glow!
