Our volunteers have started the work of transcribing items from the #Penrhyn Archive (Jamaica), from @archpbu.bsky.social They give an uncomfortable insight into daily life on sugar plantations in #Jamaica, and the lives of #African and Afro-Caribbean slaves who were working there.

For #EYAArchitecture, we’re sharing some images of the building of Cardiff University’s ASSL (Arts and Social Sciences Library). Designed by Harry Faulkner-Brown in the Brutalist style, it cost a cool £1.1 million (around £12m today) and won an award for its innovative use of concrete!
Our volunteers have started work transcribing a collection of letters written by Welshman, John Griffith Jones, while he was with the 23rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry in the Union Army during the #AmericanCivilWar. Just look at that illustration! The collection is held at National Library Wales.

Crowd Cymru volunteers have helped describe items from the archive: ephemera, club night posters, and newsletters which include gossip sections, helplines, and advice on HIV and AIDS.
Established in 1986, GLAGG offered an alternative to the Cardiff gay scene. Their events attracted people from as far as the south Wales Valleys and Bristol. The GLAGG banner was carried at the Cardiff and London Prides of 1986 and 1987.
