Oldest and I have decided Cassie needs a poster wall over her favourite bed.

A calico cat curled up napping on a cardboard bed. The wall behind her has a post-it note with a hand-drawn cat as a ship's mast, its tail flying a flag. The handwriting says "Sailing the 7 CASS-SEAS". Another item on the wall is a suspense movie poster. (See next image and alt text.)

Doofus. 💕

A couple of months after she joined us. She was trying to get my attention while I was writing a paper. Image: Calico tabby cat clutching the arm of a couch with a crazy look in her eyes.

This past autumn, I bought a little cardboard house thing for the four cats. It look like a coffee shop. She sat at the door for the first two days after it arrived, acting for all the world like she was greeting patrons who came to get a latte. It was eventually taken over by her nemesis, the black and white cat Marcie, who literally goes into it the same time every day like she's on shift. This is a major new work by acclaimed British artist Jenny Saville. It accompanies the exhibition of Saville's work at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, which opens on 24 March 2018.
Saville is best known for her large-scale paintings of female nudes and sculptural use of paint to depict flesh. In recent years, Saville has worked increasingly with charcoal and pastel, layering and blending the media to create images that suggest movement and actions caught simultaneously. Saville draws upon a wide range of sources in her work. She has commented: 'Ideas come from anywhere - medical books, magazines, the internet, films, art - l'm not hierarchical about what prompts me to make a painting.
Aleppo marks an important new series by the artist. In this work, Saville has used the composition of the 'Piet', a subject in Western religious art in which the Virgin Mary is shown cradling the dead body of Jesus Christ. Meaning pity in Italian, the 'Piet' was intended to convey sorrow and mourning. It is a composition often associated with sculpture and in Saville's work a stone-like form appears to hold up the cradled bodies. Saville uses this traditional format to address the human suffering and devastating consequences of contemporary conflict.

Finished the third and final book of @natania.bsky.social's QUEENS OF FATE series today. Been in a bit of a sulk ever since. I wasn't ready for it to end. (It was so fun! Arthurian legend, remixed. The women are badass.)
