A conure. I already have one, so hopefully they can be companions because they both really need one. The orange sun is my Squeaky and the nekkid one is Mango, a Jenday. His owners are basically barred from reentering the country and it's been over a year, so we're hoping we can give him a good home
Spend more time painting and less time fiddling with Illustrator. If you have art you need adapted to products or social media assets, I can help! DM me or email crys@crysodenkirk.com to discuss your project. #artists #artistproblems
She's back home from a show and available for sale. Prints will also be available soon. Frame not included. The Tower 12x18, watercolor and ink on paper #fineart #painting #artforsale
I'm opening design commissions for artists selling online who would rather have more time to focus on their art and community and less on busywork and the technical challenges of trying to do all the print-ready product files, social media assets, etc. Would this be helpful for you? #artists #design
This month's #BirdWhisperer #bird is a pair of black-cheeked lovebirds. I thought these colors lent themselves well to oil pastel #art @birdwhisperers.bsky.social

January's #BirdWhisperer project bird is the Gyrfalcon. Happy 10th anniversary!
It's such a gray day here today that I want to share something more cheerful, a cluster of early daffodils. I took this a couple years ago in January, up on Mt. Diablo.
Framing a painting really does make so much difference in how it hits. I think I didn't really get how much until I framed this one to drop off for a show. #art
This is how far I got today. Submissions for the show were due today, and I sent in with this, but I suspect it's not finished enough to get accepted (even though I will be able to finish it tomorrow, well before I'd have to drop it off). Too much going on the last 2 weeks; short by just 4 hrs #wip
The first pass of inking went faster than I expected. #wip
Well, please with how the brambles are starting out #wip
Cutting it real fine this time. So much going on all at once. Final refinement here, let it dry overnight, frame it tomorrow, drop it off for the show on Tuesday. Closer than I generally prefer but hey, it's still on time
It needs a little more contrast to make the sections pop. Maybe a little pale blue in the white straight knots, some white gouache in the round ones to make them clearer. A little brighter and more green/teal in the central band? But we're almost there. #wip
Grid and dots and plan finished. Can you tell what it's going to be yet? #wip
Only my brain would look at a submission deadline that's only 2 days away and go "ah yes, time to do a full page carpet knotwork!" Can I finish it in time? We will see.
Decided to do the last #BirdWhisperer #art of the year in my own style instead of doing it as practice. European Crested Tit in snow. Ink and watercolor on Bristol board. #birds @birdwhisperers.bsky.social

Having a companion bird is a little (a lot) like having a toddler. There is now raspberry in my hair. Also down my shirt. They want all your attention. And you don't want to think too hard about the gunk you find randomly on their toys or your furniture. It's a good thing you're cute, little bird
