Katy Nisbet from @clanchildlaw.org brings the perspective from legal practitioners - particularly to understand how lawyers assess children’s capacity to instruct a solicitor. She explains what child centred practice means and that capacity can change and can depend on context

Next up we’re hearing from James Hamilton, who reminds us that we need to explore young people’s unmet needs and that speech, language and communication needs should be explored and any links to offending behaviour identified.

Our second panel is talk is drawing on themes we heard this morning, particularly supporting people as individuals to help better support their needs.

In our second Q&A session the message is clear from panellists so far that commitment is needed for preventative, holistic and relational practice to support young people.

Lunchtime read from CYCJ's Participation, Engagement and Policy Advisor Julia Swann 💻 Julia has written a fantastic blog about her recent trip to Tromsø for the Arctic Youth Research Conference.

And Katy Nisbet, Head of Legal Policy at Clan Childlaw will also contribute expertise from their delivery of child centred legal services.

James Hamilton will bring his expertise from his work as a Principal Speech and Language Therapist at Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
