We woke up early, and the cats were most confused. After grumpily demanding treats, they have giving up on the humans and gone back to sleep.

A dilute tortie cat with the widest eyes ever reaches out a paw entreatingly. She wants you to know she exists and is so very very much in need of love. It's been seconds since someone paid attention to her.

The V&R exhibit was jaw-droppingly amazing. The construction of these garments was so skilled and so purposeful. One of the best art exhibits I've ever seen.

It is, I suppose, technically a coat dress in that if you handed a fairy godmother a handful of pixie stix instead of a wand and then asked for a white coat-dress.

The dress itself is floor-length with wide lapels and a very full skirt. Three large buttons dot the front part of the skirt, and a band of matching fabric formed into a belt wraps around the waist. The dress and belt are embellished with rows of small glittery rhinestones around each finished edge.

Running up two lines of the skirt and up both sleeves are rows of fabric hearts - also outlined in rhinestones -- white ones, then pink, then red. It forms a very lovely ombre effect.

I have never coveted a garment like I have coveted this one. It is stunningly gorgeous in person, and I would commit serious crimes to be able to go to whatever Ball it is destined for.

A massive tulle dress in all white with "I'm not shy; I just don't like you" emblazoned across the front of the dress in black letters like an attack. What you can't tell from the photo is that the words are also made of tulle and it's so frothy and delightful and ANGRY you just want to hug it.

In the background are other dresses; patrons walk among them taking a closer look.

Today seems like a good day to post pretty pictures of nature, ya know?

A shallow cave in a cliff face that plunges into the ocean. The face of the cliff is mottled green and brown and white.

Brilliant green grass tops a sheer cliff that vanishes beneath a green-blue sea. The water is remarkably calm. If one were to look extremely closely at the grass, one would see thousands upon thousands of puffins - which are honestly adorable birds.

A broad series of waterfalls underneath a blue sky speckled with bright white clouds. Mist rises up from the basin of the falls, and if you listen closely, you can hear the thundering roar that they bring.

This is how I know my orange girl loves and trusts us. We can pick her up with nothing more than a mild grumble. When her foster went to pick up her, she got her hand lacerated. (Sometimes we can even hold her and get happy purrs which is astounding progress)

Roses, y'all. We have done the most fascinating things to this plant.

An enormous pink cabbage rose with just so many petals. It's frilly, that's what this rose is. And lovely!

This rose bush is a minimalist, with each rose having just enough petals to make a flower. The petals are a rich pink except for the center where they turn deep red.

It's a lovely rose.

Had the worst dreams last night -- the kind that you think might actually be real and that still linger in the back of your head during the rest of your day. It's been a rough day, so here, have a cute cat.
