I ended a pen friendship of 25 years today. We grew apart, it happens. Wished we could’ve found a way to agree to disagree on a fairly trivial matter, but apparently this is impossible. The wild reflections in the picture match how I feel about that.
Today's run was much better! First time running 10 miles (~16k). 2:25 hours. 29°C (84 °F) by the end. 🥵 New hobby: Making dog walkers laugh at what I tell them while I slowly overtake them. Oh, and I ran 500k this year! And 727k in the last 365 days. I guess I need a new goal now. 🤭 #running
Human pretzel, 2008. 😆 (Of course, I still sit like that. When trying to fall asleep, I often have a knee near my shoulder and arms all over the place.)
I was told to keep mentioning if a run was my longest yet, so here goes: First ever 15k (9.4 mi.). A personal record climb of 273 m (895 ft). Longest run yet (2:20 hrs). Got lost more times than I can count, but found my way back home. Saw the friendly runner again (she waved). ☺️ #running
Got one "enjoy your meal" when a man saw me chewing. 😆 Saw the carcass of a dog next to a wooden cross and some burnt grass. Ran in circles around a lonely elderly widower for a brief chat. He had been a runner for 50 years himself and called me an athlete. I complimented him on his cute dog. 2/2
Running by feels sometimes also means doing much more than you had planned on doing. 🤷♀️ 14k (8.75 mi.) - 256m (840 ft) total climb - 2:12 hours Saw three other runners, a female runner also wore a vest and beamed at me. The other female runner gave me a cheery hello. 1/2 #running
I’m #running more these days to cope with the construction noise. 12.5k (7.8 mi) today, my longest run yet. Saw no other runners, but a few cyclists taking a break who looked a bit confused when they saw me run up a hill, take a quick look at the view, and then run down again. 😆 3 small blisters.
How to get me to a) run in zone 1 and b) up and down hills (I grew up in a very flat area) - simply give me an adventure trail! 😆 11 km (6.9 mi.), 1 hour 43 minutes, 211 m total climb. Helped train a dog to not chase runners, got stung by a tiny tick (🤬). Saw a deer but no other runners. #running
I might get into trouble for it later, but I ran a 10k fartlek with 180 m (590 ft) total climb today (my second 10k ever). I had lots of fun. First run with soft flasks in the running vest. Lots of mud, many fallen tree obstacles, some very steep places, few people, no dog incident. 🎉 #running
We have lots of those in Germany. I don’t know the technical details, but I think they figured out how we can use them safely as Germany is very keen on doing everything safely. 🙃 de.statista.com/infografik/3...
I went to Kotlin Conf in Munich this week. I was too busy to take pictures while there, but a co-worker and I went on lovely long walks in the evening. There was a large park only a few minutes’ walk from the venue.
Still feeling off, but I did a slow 5k today. Was happy to see quite a few run-walking beginners in the forest. Since I had just missed a total of 250k last year, I thought this would be a nice goal for 2026. Love the “more confetti” button! Next up: 500k in 365 days. #running
