The more things change...

49 months and 49 games later, the Apogee Quest is complete! I had a (mostly) great time going through the games of my childhood and playing through the few that I'd never before experienced. My heartfelt thanks to Scott Miller and everyone involved with Apogee Software back in the 20th century.

I am filled with existential dread as I babysit a Junior High class watching a seemingly unending series of AI-created images being zoomed out for five seconds at a time while an AI-generated voiceover speaks on the history of human technology. No one complains. Is this a new circle of hell?

Blind boxes should be regulated in the same way gambling is regulated. It should be illegal to advertise and sell these things to children.

I don't post about local stuff very often. Let's be honest, few of you know me well enough to care and even fewer of you live near enough to understand the context. Despite this, these numbers were bad enough that I couldn't help but share. Read the whole article at: www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

A screenshot showing the percent salary increase for teachers, average percent weekly earnings increase for all workers, and percent consumer price index increase in the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, and in the cities of Vancouver and Toronto for the years 2019 – 2025. While all locations experienced about 20% inflation, and average weekly earnings keeping up to inflation (or exceeding it, in the case of the two cities), teachers' salary increases are all below inflation, with the lowest outside Alberta being 15.1%. Alberta is a noticeable outlier with a CPI increase of 20.8% but an average weekly salary increase of only 14.1% and a teacher salary increase of just 3.8%.
