HNL Complete Streets will be hosting a workshop for Wilder Ave and Piʻikoi Streets! Be a part of the safer streets discussion on August 18th at the Makiki District Park Auditorium! Changes to Wilder Ave and Piʻikoi Streets will be proposed as part of the Honolulu Safer Streets Project.

While there are several issues in our newly updated laws at the state and city level that may prohibitively and unreasonably restrict ebike usage, Bill 41 is a good step in the right direction towards creating a simpler, more easily understood, and unified ebike rule structure.
* Restricting 15 & 16 year olds to class 1 ebikes, banning all those younger than 15 from operating an ebike * Banning “amplified music” or “battery operated speakers” on bikeways * Banning horse riding on bikeways * Establishing that only one person can ride an ebike at a time
* Clarifying where and how ebikes can be parked on the street * Permitting riding ebikes of any type on sidewalks up to 10mph, except in business districts * Clarifying bikeways can only be used by bikes, ebikes, escooters, or other electric micomobility devices
Creating more modern ebike codes Bill 41, introduced by Councilmember Dos Santos-Tam and Councilmember Tulba, aims to unify the city’s ebike regulations with the state’s newly updated laws, per HB2021. It clarifies and updates many rules, many of which are listed as following:
