Finding out the hard way that River is allergic to eggs. 😢 (She's okay, just needs anti-nausea meds for a while, bless her heart.)
If there's one thing I am really, really good at, it's pissing complete strangers off at random. 😅 Never change, Bluesky. You give me life.
Sometimes you have to pull over and get the shot. Sorry for the aphid sap all over the mirror. It's that time of year, and the whole car is covered within minutes of washing. I hate it.
Now, the arqument has been made that HB622 violates the Kentucky state constitution. It might, depending on when McConnell is up for reelection. HOWEVER – and I cannot stress this highly enough – MCCONNELL'S SEAT IS NOT VACANT.
Because, and I know some of you really fucking hate this, BUT:
So let's go back to the 17th. "When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, ..." WHEN VACANCIES HAPPEN. McConnell's seat is not vacant.
And the 10th Amendment to the (federal) Constitution says this:
"... Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct." "the legislature MAY empower..." The STATE legislature. And the state legislature may also NOT empower.
"When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, ..." See that ": Provided,"? That means this section DEPENDS UPON WHAT COMES NEXT. Governor gets to name a replacement: IF.
I started seeing this yesterday, now you mention it. Furthers my belief this is a whisper campaign to prevent Bashear's reelection or presidential run, and stupid rubes are falling for it. 🤬 Unfortunately, I think the damage is done. I weep for the fucking future.
Got a softer, padded fabric cone of shame for sleeping in.
Yesterday, I failed to properly secure the door to River's room. Buttercup pushed it open while I was with River and padded into the room, calmly and curiously. Unfortunately, the space is tiny, and River River panicked and attacked her. It was entirely my fault, and I am heartbroken.
Buttercup got a new sister (hopefully 🙏🤞🍀🪵) New Year's Eve, when I found this beautiful pupper starving on the street. We are currently acclimatizing. She looks a lot better now.
