NZME's Thomas Coughlan, who's relentless in shooting down the left's spending policies as unaffordable, somehow thinks Paul Henry randomly announcing an Auckland cancer hospital which will be paid for by wealthy New Zealanders handing over $10 billion, is a "comms masterclass".

How come The Spinoff's Hayden Donnell could predict the road costings weren't real, at the same time as Thomas Coughlan was saying "there's no way to know if National are lying about this"? Is he just more "savvy" than you, Thomas?

In July 2023, NZME's Thomas Coughlan defended National's blatantly bs road costings by saying we can't "expect political parties to... carry out detailed business cases" when announcing transport policy. Even though that's what Labour did, and he criticised them for it in the next breath.

Audrey Young criticised the Greens for picking Benjamin Doyle, saying "you're an MP even before you're an MP". But Paul Henry, who called homosexuals "unnatural", said Susan Boyle was retarded, and questioned whether a non-white Kiwi was "even a NZer"? He "can’t be criticised for wanting to stand"!

NZME's Mike Hosking told Paul Henry he couldn't go into politics. Why would he, when he can get paid much more to protect corporations responsible for climate change without having to worry about pesky stuff like being elected or official information requests. Waaay more influential on the outside.

Awkward NZ Herald is running farming propaganda the same time as this story is out. (I mean, it runs farming propaganda every day so I guess it was inevitable).

Henry is a good fit for Act, as he employs the same style of aren't-I-a-scamp, not-answering-the-question technique that David Seymour does. I predict at least one journalist will call him "witty" when he accidentally says something horribly racist before the election is done.

It looks to me like NZME's Michael Morrah has it completely backwards here: when the boss of a multimillion-dollar private jet company complains about “bureaucracy”, and Luxon tells Mike Hosking there's too many “dumb and stupid” rules, it signals they're valuing cost-cutting over safety.

The NZ Herald is concerned about the rise of "ghoulish fake AI news" and I don't want to alarm them, but I've seen a story where their star broadcaster Mike Hosking said 99.2% of people who died in Italy from COVID-19 were ‘dying anyway’. I think NZME fell for it too because they defended him!

Someone needs to make a list of stories RNZ has broken over the last year, because apart from anything else, either NZME is intentionally killing stories or their top exclusive has been googling 'Green party tax policy' on Sunday morning.

I genuinely think one of the funniest things about Mike Hosking is his criticisms of "the media" are often the same as mine, and many others, but the difference is HE IS THE MEDIA.

As we know, these are the only options. At least make the manufacturing consent part of your job a little more subtle, Stuff.
