If you have played and loved Thieves of the Tome, please consider voting for us in the ENNIEs. We're up for Best Rules and Best game, and we need your help to win because we're up against some other really cool games. vote.ennie-awards.com/vote/2026/
Media literacy is dead. I can't believe this person looked at my game and thought my meaning was to literally steal books in real life. But they're probably just stretching because they're an AI booster.
Super proud to have worked with the wonderful @beautifulworldinc.bsky.social on Thieves of the Tome, which is now award-nominated for his art!? Go checkout all these really cool games, and if you haven't seen Tom's work yet, give Thieves of the Tome a look too! www.igdnonline.com/groundbreakers
🚨ALERT🚨 ONLY 20 HOURS LEFT THIS IS NOT A DRILL. We're really close to a stretch goal that will bring 3 new guest writers to the project. They're all really cool people that I want to work with, and this is your last chance to help get them on this project! www.backerkit.com/c/projects/f...
And we're funded!! Yippee!!!! Thanks to everyone that has backed so far. This would not have been possible without you! Now let's move on to those stretch goals.
Just one week remaining! We're 90% funded and need to push through that final bit. Help us out! Tell folk stories around the campfire, record your games in a legacy style straight in the book, and explore worlds from summer sleep away ghost stories to aliens at the end of the universe.
2 weeks left on How I Heard It on @backerkit.com! We're over 70% funded, but we need your help to finish strong. If you want to play RPGs like we are in the image below: outside around a campfire, then this is the game for you (lighting and cameras not required)! www.backerkit.com/c/projects/f...
To do a little #SelfpromoSaturday here: How I Heard It funding is well underway. I'd like to introduce our first guest writers! They each pitched evocative and unique world sheets for the game. Help us fund so we can read em! @hipolita.itch.io @classicalglaiza.com @bookishbroke.bsky.social
Haha Backerkits themes are funnny. I hadn't heard of someone calling something folk punk before, but it's pretty accurate to the vibes.
For evening and other time zone folks: we're live! Back in the first 48 for a free one page RPG.
And we're live! Go back if you want to gather around a campfire with your friends and tell folk stories. The more we fund, the more cool guest writers we get! Back in the first 48 hours to get a free one pager I wrote inspireny daredevil. www.backerkit.com/c/projects/f...
@weirdplace.bsky.social Fluff N' Fury looks so good! I'm so stoked to have it in my hands. Also love the punk posters. Can't wait to read and play it.
@naladraws.com has done a fantastic job creating the cover for How I Heard It. They captured the folky campfire vibes so well! Follow the project on backerkit to get this cover in your hands physically, and to play a game of gmless campfire storytelling. firstpancake.studio/how-i-heard-it/
Y'all this is a really fun game you should all start Fukuzatsu leagues. New deck box made from the corpses of last game!
Fukuzatsu time by @neonrot.bsky.social. Peep our conbini filled with coffee punch cards and visa gift cards.
On the other side is a chronicle where all information about a game is recorded. This means you don't need to print a character sheet or use index cards, but just use a page out of the book to track lore generated from a world. Less things to bring to the fire!
Lemon pig comparison. 2025's is 80% lighter and the coin is corroded by like 0.5mm. thanks lemon pig 2025, may 2026 continue in your stead.
To that end I've made a game that is as much about the storytelling as it is about the story being told. The players act as chroniclers, not characters within the hero's story. They have their own personal ideals, family, and faction they belong to. All of these influence how they tell the story.
So I decided I should make one. While searching for a topic, I settled on the idea of oral storytelling. My design goals: 1. HIHT should be playable around a fire. No prep, minimal materials. 2. It should reflect the power dynamics of storytelling. 3. The tone should be similar to Name of the Wind
I want to give a little more in depth discussion of this design. Last year I was camping with my friends up in NH and while around the campfire I had a thought: I really want to play a TTRPG right now. I couldn't think of a game that I would use around the fire. #ttrpg #ttrpgdesign #camping
Very exciting holiday / Kickstarter deliveries at the end of this year. I can't pick which one of these I'm most excited about.
Taking suggestions for the name of my Mythic Bastionland realm.
Stone carving update! I'm on the polishing and finishing step. This has been such an interesting process. It's a super meditative art form, and you really don't need much to do it! Feels so cool to carve stone the same way it's always been done. I'm very proud of how the hand turned out.
Alternating between listening to the King in Yellow and watching Storm of the Century while packing the Kickstarter shipment. Apologies if these books arrive tainted with the Yellow Sign or an Evil Cane.
BostonFIG was a blast again! Thanks to everyone that came out and tried to beat our first boss fight in Cappy and Tappy. The best time was 2:13 which was crazy! It was so cool to see teams work together to take down the statue.
All my games are on sale for creator day! Come grab everything 30% off. Itch isn't taking a cut for the duration of the sale.
Thieves of the Tome is at the Goosepoop booth! Come check it out in the back left corner of the expo hall. You can also get the companion
