New Edge day, and while it’s hard to top last issue’s feature, there’s still a fair bit of words from me, including a profile of Perfect Tides creator Meredith Gran (Station to Station still one of my highlights of 2026), a preview of VR JRPG Knights of Fiona, and two reviews, if you can guess which
Managed to do a session of Big Walk and it was a heck of a time
Not only does it contain oodles of beautiful artwork and concepts from the series stretching over a decade, but you can even get advice from the games’ artist Catherine Unger on creating the perfect environment for a point-and-click game
Back in ImagineFX with a feature on SFB Games, getting great insight from Adam Vian on the studio’s early Flash years and the beginnings of Detective Grimoire to his latest murder mystery The Mermaid Mask.
Went to the Mike and Rami live show and it was every bit as hilarious/cursed as you might imagine
Congrats to Grease Trap ‘99 @deepcrypt on winning best of show at @glasgowindiegamesfest.org 2026. You can read more about it on Creative Bloq, plus I believe a Steam demo will be coming soon www.creativebloq.com/entertainmen...
Hanging around for the GIGF afterparty and they’ve got the GGs playing games music. I thought starting with Command & Conquer: Red Alert was a bit strange but totally wasn’t prepared for GTA San Andreas segue into Luigi’s Mansion
New Edge day, featuring a new career high interview from me as I got to sit down with the legendary Hideki Kamiya for almost 3 hours to discuss his 30-year spanning career as a pioneer of game design. Give it a read, it’s… Viewtiful
Given the clusterfuck of news from Sony/Microsoft in the past few days, it seems timely to have gotten rid of the Series S, and the space has been now taken up by my phat PS2 previously residing in my office retro corner.
I’m back on my Dreamcast bullshit in @retrogamermag.bsky.social, this time to look at its European side and the making of Toy Commander with Frédérick Raynal, founder of Sega’s ‘1.5 party’ studio No Cliché 🌀
Went to meet my MSP at an LGBT bookshop just around the corner, and also found they’ve got a book in stock from someone I know
“GTA 6 is $80, games are getting more expensive” Or just proving UK was getting ripped off when the other platforms/pubs this gen thought £70/$70 was fair
The new Edge issue has me with some reporting in Japan leading with a 4-page Knowledge on BitSummit (14th edition, but Asian cultures also count birth as year 1 rather than 0 so hush). Also visited Game Freak to learn what I could about Beast of Reincarnation from its creator Kota Furushima.
I’m just happy to see the return of the best girl, Claire Redfield (she’s had a bit of a redesign from REmake 2 tho, eh?)
When you own so many tote bags as freebies from events, the idea of spending money on one seems a tad preposterous, you might even say Craaaaaaaaazy…
I suppose there’s worse ways to use my remaining Suica credit
