i haven't played (much less enjoyed) minecraft for a couple of years at this point. but i decided to give the 'matcha flavoured' datapack by klei wright a go after getting his video on it in my recommended, and im fucking with it heavy so far. does a good job of rewarding a more 'casual' playstyle.

a two-story house in minecraft situated on a ridge in minecraft. it is made of stone, wood and snow and has sugar cane and pumpkins growing on its left and a small fenced-off enclosure to the right. a steep winding path snakes from the front door down the mountain face.

I haven’t stopped feeling the urge to throw up the last couple days. Nothing has made me able to shake the feeling of guilt on my conscious. When I broke up with Bruno I spent months agonising over whether or not I was too harsh, or took it too far by being public about it. I realise now this is just testament to how effective and pathological his manipulation was. But I still can’t shake the shame and anger I feel.

So I can’t even imagine how much worse the victims must feel. Another has come forward, and I suspect they won’t be the last. And if the people being the loudest about all this truly care even a little bit about what they profess too then their focus- all of our focus- should be set squarely on supporting the victims. That one person has already had to clarify that they were not a “pedo supporter” but were, in fact, also manipulated and used ought to get it through to peoples’ heads that the dramatisation of suffering serves to help no one (except those with the gall to go on monetised “rants” about it on streams and videos).

That said, I do understand the anger. That Bruno was made a Boatswain- despite the vote leading to a consensus ‘no’ against him being so- was the most inane, ridiculous and irresponsible thing the SoT community team could have possibly done. Sure, they couldn’t have known the worst of his actions. But they knew enough. We all knew that he had made sexual jokes with a minor of HALF his age whom he sailed with regularly. If that wasn’t a glaring warning sign against giving him a position of prestige within the community then I’m not sure what else could have been. I give the community team full credit for how quick they were to not only demote Bruno, but ban him from the game altogether after his predatory actions were brought to light. But he simply should not have had that position in the first place. I don’t expect Rare, a Microsoft-owned corporate studio, to make an official statement on what is now a legal issue. But is it too…
