I was searching for podcasts about the #Melbourne Metro Tunnel and found this one with perhaps the worst take possible: that it was pointless because nobody will use it. Yeah, nah. pca.st/episode/7de6f...
A little bird tells me that contrary to what you might hear, some AOs (ticket inspectors) do have handheld readers that can check for Tap And Go. The rollout is not complete, but is progressing. #Myki
Thanks, but I think I prefer my fully electric train for $2.75 a ride. Faster in the city, too. #TownHallStation
So is #iOS27 going to fix that annoying issue in 26 where the volume drops by half in FaceTime while sharing the screen?
Is this standard signage? I don’t think I’ve noticed it before. Aren’t tram stops usually just generic No Standing Zones?
How many people use V/Line each day? And how many journeys were affected by this week's V/Line disruptions? Short answer: about 38,000 people, and over two days, around 150,000 journeys. More on the blog danielbowen.com/2026...
V/Line trains starting to run again as of 1pm. My bit on 3AW this morning about this mess is here www.3aw.com.au/v-lin...
Between planned Metro works and V/Line's complete suspension of trains, there are no trains at all from western #Melbourne reaching the City. The only silver lining is it’s school holidays. Also incredibly disruptive for the rest of the state of course.
You can complain all you like matey, but your actions have consequences.
So despite the doom and gloom, the Australian state with the highest population growth in absolute numbers is... Victoria. All the more reason for the govt to keep on investing in efficient transport modes. The bigger we get, the more we need better public transport. Source: www.abs.gov.au/stati...
I'm currently watching Aaron Sorkin's post-West Wing show, "Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip", for the first time. IMHO it started strong, then was good but not great, but from about episode 17 (of 22) it is just really great stuff. (No spoilers please, not finished yet!)
Australia vs Egypt starts 4am Saturday. Melbourne's Night Network means trains were running anyway, but only hourly. They've put on some extra services too, which will make getting to the live sites easier... though not on the Ringwood or Clifton Hill lines🤔 transport.vic.gov.au... #WorldCup2026
The giant puddle on Caulfield station platform 2 isn’t great, but it does make for some cool reflections.
Got home earlier to find the #Roomba had grown a suspicious new tail.
2016: the Level Crossing Removal Project was just warming up. Ten years ago today was the ceremonial removal of the boom gates from my local station at Bentleigh, with then Premier Daniel Andrews, then Transport Minister (now Premier) Jacinta Allan, and local MP Nick Staikos... and me in attendance.
Blog: a quick comparison of public transport fares around Australia. With the current half price fares, Melbourne's not the most expensive any more! danielbowen.com/2026...
Again?! My kids are breaking so many phones recently. I guess I'll have to text them on this number that is oddly different from where the message came from 🤔 #scams
In any case, good luck to the Brits this week during your summer of discontent.
I've been trying to catch up on my blog posts of ten year old photos; I am not totally sure why I snapped this one! danielbowen.com/2026...
I bought a new shaver. It has Bluetooth and an app. This seems unnecessary.
At Malvern, wondering how many inbound Frankston trains run out of service to the City to run evening peak services, when they could make a couple of extra stops to serve crowds going to the Richmond events precinct. #Melbourne
I hope nobody was hurt by this apparently sentient car that drove onto the footpath.
Gotta admit, it's genius for Paramount Plus to overlay two screens at once while you're trying to cancel. But I still found the button to continue. #WebDesign
