And then I came home to the most wonderful present - an Acer! I enjoyed having one years ago in another life, so it's lovely to bring one into this life.

42 today, so I took myself out for a little lunchtime treat.

You might think, as his wife initially did, that he looks like a Kaiser Chiefs indie lad but that's not the case. He's more into prog rock and metal - really anything where some aspect of the music (volume, bombast, musicianship, beats in the bar) is turned up to 11.

He looks satisfied with life, in the manner of a middle-aged man who's taken a long lunch break to have a fancy fish finger sandwich and a half pint.

I saw a clip last week of a woman who made the lowest-effort sourdough bread - just mix it without even weighing the ingredients, leave it overnight, then shape and bake the next morning. Turns out it works.
