A Gaussian splat of a jumping spider, the cutest of arachnids. The tiny size was a challenge. #3dgs 👇
A high magnification Gaussian splat, of the edge of three-ply toilet paper (unused). #3dgs
You can improve the quality of your scans / splats if you only use the areas in focus. Useful if you can't get quite everything in focus.
A high magnification Gaussian splat, of some cloth.. also known as microplastic. #3dgs
This high magnification Gaussian splat of a brown butterfly wing section, sure looks like shingles.
Zooming into a high magnification Gaussian splat of a butterfly wing. #3dgs
AstrHori 25mm lens at 5x.. specimen is so tiny. 🫠 (tint is from green screen and phone desperately trying to white balance.)
High magnification Gaussian splatting is now working! My first attempts all failed, now with a proper lens it just works. Still need to improve diffraction (blur / haze) and pick a nicer subject. #3dgs
A capture of a common wall lizard. A miniature dragon with a beautiful blue sheen. #3dgs 👇
Cholocate splits. 133 perspectives, 89 stacked photos each, 0.98M splats. #3dgs 👇
A white chocolate praline. 133 perspectives, 89 stacked photos each, 0.06M splats. #3dgs 👇
A bit of a Ragusa bar. One of my favourit swiss chocolate. 133 perspectives, 89 stacked photos each, 0.76M splats. #3dgs 👇
A praline. 138 perspectives, 89 stacked photos each, 0.18M splats. #3dgs 👇
If a rock could tell a story, this ones a whole book. A Gaussian splat of part of a rock. f/11, 1/160s, 114 perspectives with 62 stacked photos each. 5.0 M splats. Check out the interactive version 👇
A piece of Amazonite, 38 mm. f/6.3, 1/320s, 108 perspectives with 62 stacked photos each. 5.0 M splats. 920 MB uncompressed. #3dgs
Look at this cool rock I found. It glows under UV! But at 20cm its too big for my setup to capture. Should I smash it??
A piece of Labradorite, 24 mm. 105 stacks, 65 photos each. 4.45 M splats. This mineral can be incredible pretty, with it's colorful irradiance. Getting it into a splat did not work very well, the slight transparency and sub par piece I have.. does not help. #3dgs
A capture of a carpenter bee, the goth version of a bumblebee. This one was a struggle, it needed a throughout cleaning, now it looks quite worn down. Sure has some stories to tell! #3dgs
The bee is so much cleaner..! unfortunately the wings took quite a bit of damage... and I should have combed more / earlier. They eyes though, surprisingly look a bit better.
A piece of Azurit, 26 mm. 88 stacks, 63 photos each. 3.78 M splats. 870 MB uncompressed. #3dgs
