Back at the emergency vet with my girl, who once again drooped and wouldn't eat or drink all morning but got so excited when I grabbed the leash 😐

we have reached the bottom of the sleeve! interestingly, four hours of stabs into thin skin over bones was pretty painful, but not half as painful as last month's 3-hour shading session on the inner wrist

I super love this color and shading but holy fuck my wrist is on FIRE we're really close to finishing these sleeves but 🫪

A swollen white wrist tattooed nearly to the palm. There are Buggs holding hands (the very first piece in these sleeves, 3.5 years ago) that are now standing in a room painted in unreal shades of teal and turquoise and honeydew and rose. The room is technically a panel in a comic AND ALSO a dimensional room that lets them pass from arm to arm, because my tattoo artist is the best kind of bonkers.

Creepy doll got color today 🤘🏻

An arm rests on an orange plastic covered rest. It is very brightly tattooed; front and center is a doll in a blue dress and black boots, with green hair cut in bangs with black tips. Her face is slightly cracked, with a wonky eye, and smudges of blush on each cheek. She holds a piece of parchment with drawings on it, but she's staring at something we can't see. She sits under a giant pink, purple and blue rose, while Buggs holding hands and carrying suitcases walk on something behind her head. I can't remember what it's supposed to be but it's purple 🤷🏻‍♀️ behind her is the cemetery. The detail and colors are just bonkers bright and layered and gorgeous.

I HAVE CREATED CHEESE ITSELF

The formerly-cheesecloth-wrapped blob of maybe-cheese is now an unwrapped, firm, set chunk of actual goddamn cheese. It weighs 2.2lbs/988g with the cheesecloth, so my 3lb guess was a little off

The cheesecloth-lined red plastic colander is now just half full of loose cheese, which is still screaming hot and full of whey.

The cheesecloth has been gathered up and twisted tightly around the cheese, which sits on an upside down plate on top of the colander in the sink. Next step, not pictured: another plate on top of the cheese, weighted by a cast iron lid

I think we're gonna need a bigger colander 😳

A black sink liberally splattered with white drops. The sink holds a red plastic colander lined with cheesecloth, filled almost to the brim with screaming hot nearly-cheese. I may have miscalculated? Look, the recipe was part of a matar paneer recipe that itself called for 8oz of paneer, and which called for 3 quarts of milk and 3 cups of buttermilk to make the paneer, and since it's easier to buy that shit by the gallon & quart I thought I'd just scale up & end up with about 12oz of cheese. That is clearly not happening here. I'm going to have like 3lbs of paneer, aren't I?

Decided to make paneer instead of running errands, because I forgot that it takes approximately three days to boil a gallon of milk 😶 yes I'll have a lot of cheese but I'll also be stirring this milk until Sunday

Gonna test the theory

A large black Brother P-Touch label maker, displaying the words "Label Maker" in a blackletter font. It will be the foot soldier in my war against losing shit.

A plastic tub filled with dozens of label maker tape cartridges in three sizes and like ten different colors, as well as the AC and car power adapters for the label maker. Because surely a color code can only improve matters.

I am not currently in the market for a friend for Nill, but I can highly recommend Jeremy's creatures Nill is bigger than my admittedly small hand, and came with the most charming hand-lettered backstory mounted on pretty paper and signed on the back I will definitely be budgeting for more ❤️

"Meet Nill the Neolithic Statue Who Never Was. About 8000 years ago, various human beings from all over the planet considered sculpting Nill the Neolithic Statue, but they ultimately decided against creating him. They thought, rightly or wrongly, that he had a few too many eyes. And so, Nill was not made during the Neolithic period.

He now exists, however, in fabric art form. He was hand-sewn. Nill appears as if a bit of his head is missing, and that's because it is. A cave beast with a thousand teeth was without his glasses and mistook Nill for hamburger. These things happen, although Nill still feels somewhat bitter about the whole situation. As of late, he's been rewatching his favorite films, as if for the first time, planting those experiences in the parts of his brain that still exist."

How it started vs. How it's going

4 years ago today they planted my trees and bushes! The Meyer lemon on the left was already there; its new neighbors are, from left to right, a Texas sage bush, a spindly multi-trunk mesquite tree, a green cloud sage bush, a bright green Palo Verde ree, another Texas sage bush, and finally a tangerine tree. They all stand in an expanse of dirt, a few feet in front of a block wall, the right hand side of which has been painted dark grey. The walls are a prominent feature of the yard and the houses behind are clearly visible.

The same yard, now a sea of green instead of brown. A plastic lawn has been added, the walls are all dark grey, the trees are huge and fluffy in their sprint riot, and the bushes and neighbors are all but invisible. The yard is messy and wild and full of local flora. It's a veritable fucking oasis.
