I follow a reading sub-reddit and yesterday someone was asking for fantasy books about US presidents. My response:
Cade Cavalli apologized for his use of the word "boy" when he yelled at Willson Contreras. He claims he'll never say that again, it's not in his heart, etc. No way to know for sure, but I at least appreciate the Nationals recognizing the problem and addressing it quickly.
Definitely glad I'm not this guy right now after Japan's heartbreaking loss to Brazil. This is what you get sitting surrounded by the opposing team.

Preliminary ranked-choice voting tabulations are complete and Aparna Raj is projected to win in the fourth round of results. I was curious to see how Miguel and Rashida's cross-endorsement would impact this, but it ended up not mattering. Excited to see what Aparna can accomplish as CM of Ward 1!
Preliminary first round results from the Ward 1 primary here in DC. Not surprised to see Aparna take a big lead, but plenty still to sort out. Mail-in votes are still being counted, so we'll see if she gets up over 50% during the first round (1/2)

I'm back from 2 weeks in Japan. A lot of highlights, but my favorite quirky thing is the ability to buy baseball tickets at convenience stores. We went to a Hiroshima Carp game and I bought the tickets at a Family Mart on what was effectively a juiced up photocopier!

Back from Japan and I'm still not sure what was going on with this. I think it was a convenience store, but this photo looks like a cross between Sylvester Stallone and Al Pacino ... dressed like a chicken.
Rosie had her follow-up with the oncologist and x-rays/bloodwork came back clean. Since removing the tumor in her mammary gland, there's been no spread! Also, she no longer needs her post-surgery cone! As always, she needed some sedation to do the x-ray and so she remains high as a kite.
When I google "metaverse", this shows up just below the news that Meta is shutting down its VR metaverse.
Took 900+ miles before we got pulled over for speeding. Happened in Wyoming and we got off with a warning!

Just turning from Iowa into Nebraska, saw something I definitely will never see in DV. This is part of a windmill (an arm? No idea). It made about a 20-pt turn to get onto the highway.
