Today in @euractiv.com I have an exclusive look at efforts to open just such a mission, a new 'Sámi Embassy' in Brussels, staffed by officials from Norway, Sweden and Finland.
You know who doesn't have their own voice in Brussels? The Sámi, the EU's only Indigenous people. It seems strange to me, considering some of the EU's biggest challenges - specifically the climate crisis - impact their ways of life more acutely than other EU citizens.
🧵Thread/Lanka: Did you know there's at least 10 Finnish representative offices in Brussels? In addition to the Embassy & EU Mission, there's also cities like Helsinki, Tampere and Turku; plus the forestry lobby and trade unions, which all have their own 'mini embassy' at the heart of the EU.
