I love things like this! It's a very specific style that evokes a lot of nostalgia, seeing the whole environment laid out on a page like this
RAMP 2026 has 226 maps, 68 of which were from people who indicated that they were new to Doom mapping! Now it's finally time to play and showcase them - RAMP 2026 streams will begin on Jul 18th at 2pm ET! youtube.com/live/AaNQ4iy...
Where can I find some bountiful mice/bats (thanks @maxblackrabbit.bsky.social , I still think constantly about this piece :) )
Aaaa! I’d forgotten about him, I think Thom has always looked a bit familiar to me but I couldn’t place him :)
Well I never we’re at the top of the group C. They defended well, but we also have to acknowledge an extraordinary amount of luck that none of Haiti’s six hundred opportunities at a goal made it in.
Bit of a change of outfit for me but I’m glad to be presented as a pride ally :) This amazing picture was done by @jenpallante.bsky.social !
Goodness gracious what's going to happen if I use the GS wavetable synth recklessly :X
Ahaha finally done it, suck all the nectar out of my balls These maps helped - it’s impossible to judge the depth of anything without them. Hatefully awful minigame
It was originally going to be called that to continue the DUMP series, but having the name “RAMP” as a metaphor to help beginners up was too good :)
The Dreadnaught made me uncomfortable. Not when it actually clanked on to the screen, but just that shot of it at the beginning - it's weird, polygonal, its proportions are all over the place, it just... doesn't look right.
I remember the not-quite-fallen causeway stones even on a CRT :) And I still like the causeways and how they show an immediate danger and need for action that's frankly missing from a lot of the other later series rooms. Some more varied movement puzzles like this would have been nice.
And a new Place of Choice room that looks more like a series 1-3 background than anything we've seen in a while! Was that David Rowe as well? I don't recognize it as a cut-together version of any of the previous rooms.
I also noticed the new, shimmery teleport sound at the time and though it was inferior :) But it didn't occur to me that we then got something that Knightmare never had before - a physical, non-Chromakey location! A bit of a plastic one but it's a major new thing nonetheless.
It's the 17th of May 2026 and Windows is very proud that Paint can now rotate things smoothly.
Make sure you remember Mother’s Day for this reason only! (I should clarify that this is not a parody of deadful corporate culture but an actual image that Deloitte put up on their intranet)
I just remembered the videophone from Dangermouse and how it seemed like an amazing piece of science fiction when I was born - now even my mum can use one most of the time
Even though I felt I was being unfairly ammo-starved by the end (and not in a way that felt appropriately tense), I enjoyed it all over again and I liked the new enhancements. And you get rewarded with the chance to do a second run with a hat on. (I had no idea there were so many until looking now!)
One big change is that Salazar, who we rather insensitively christened "midget Napoleon" the first time around, has had a makeover and is now played by the semi-reanimated corpse of Margaret Thatcher.
From a remake of one PlayStation horror series to another - I’ve been playing the Resident Evil 4 remake, meester Kennedy! A retelling of the terror of the insect-people and Leon and Ashley's adventures in blowing their heads off.
It's sort of remarkable how absolutely thick as mince Google Gemini is
It’s definitely better in this case but I don’t want anyone to come away thinking that UK adverts were consistently sane
I called a timekeeping tool I made at work "Newton Sprint Doctor" because of its resemblance to Norton Disk Doctor, which is often confused with this defragmenter. That was how I discovered that I was the only one there old enough to know what Norton Disk Doctor was.
