I can hardly wait for the sixth Stevie Bell mystery, THE VELVET KNIFE! It will be hitting bookshelves September 29th! The Stevie Bell books, written by @maureenjohnsonbooks.com, are so good! They're like potato chips: you can't stop at one.

I recommend RATTY by Suzanne Selfors! It's a MG tale with lots of humor & heart. There's a family curse, a 4-foot boy who looks like a rat, a girl who despises rats--& the possibility of the two kids forming an unlikely friendship! How can you resist? You cannot, I tell you! It's squeaking awesome!
Brianna Jett's debut, UNDER A CARNIVORE SKY, came out this week! My copy arrived, and I can hardly wait to read it! I heard Brianna read an excerpt at a @vcfa.bsky.social residency, and it was so good! It's a YA novel in verse, the writing is beautiful, and it has a swamp monster.💚 And the cover!😍
THE NOT SO QUIET LIFE OF MARCEL MARCEAU - written by @jennbailey.bsky.social & Sherry Bushue, illustrated by Pamela Zagarenski During WWII, Marceau joined the French Resistance & forged life-saving ID cards. Later, he led Jewish orphans to safety. What an important, timely PB! Beautiful, too!

I sent my agent a new MS, a SHORT contemporary MG with autumnal vibes.🍂🍁 I drafted it last year in The Short Novel, an incredible @whalerockworkshops.bsky.social workshop, and I revised it this fall & winter. I'm super excited about this project, and I can hardly wait to go on sub with it!
I had a fabulous weekend with my amazing agent, @jenniekendrick.bsky.social. We celebrated Jennie's birthday with all sorts of fun adventures. Our activities included touring Chihuly Glass & Garden, visiting Seattle's rat mosaic, & posing with the World's Largest Rubber Chicken. It was awesome!

Matilda laid her first egg! It's the green one. Matilda is the yellow chick in the chicken baby photo. She's the 1st of our young hens to start laying. I feel like I need to write an after-school special for the 3 hens who aren't laying yet called Beatrice Has an Egg.
